All these defenseman were taken in the 1st round in 2008 and pretty much all are developed to the point where they are who they are. There won't be some magic switch where they become 10 times the players they or 10 times worse.

Hodgson is obviously not going to be bought out. Murray has said over and over again he will not let his players go for nothing. Buying out is worse than nothing. He is going to let him play next year. Hodgson is going to be at least a 20 goal scorer again and then Murray can decide if he is part of the future or a trade chip. It makes no sense to buy him out now.

I disagree Nolan is coaching the same way he did with Buffalo. Play a non aggressive style. Rely on D and a goaltender to bail you out.

That may have worked in the clutch and grab era, but not now. It also dint hurt having arguably the beast goalie to ever lace them up.

Imagine you purchased a cell phone(on contract) or a car. And it first the phone/car/whatever was nice, but then just turned into a lame duck. Totally underperformed and caused you tons of frustration and regret. You think you have no choice but to ride it out because you signed a contract. Then out of the blue you find a loophole to buy your way out at 1/3 of the cost. Do you do it or do you wait it out having faith the company will have fix for your problems?
