It was a 57 2nd and I think one in the 30's for the 28th overall and he selected ho' sang.

It was a high risk, high reward move. I wanted Ho Sang too, but if he never plays in the NHL it won't matter. That being said, I do like Lemiuex as that is more a Murray type player than Ho Sang. Only time will tell who will be a better NHL player.

Thanks. Not sure if you are being sarcastic or not (keeping all the picks, seems obvious, doing "nothing" with them, trade wise).

The Sabres are the envy for all non-playoff teams today and some playoff teams too (just not this playing season, but come draft time...).

I dont know that I would want anything different than what is currently happening. If the team was currently playing better (but still losing) might be better, but that is too much of a risk right now for us. Of course I want to sell players for more 1st rounders, but not many players left have that value.

Honestly, we should be selling players at trade deadline with a pick to get 1st rounders. Start with Islanders 2nd this year and the two seconds next year packaged with players to make that jump. Murray should smash this draft and then move on. I would almost be ok with trading next years 1st rounder if it was for a solid player (after this year is over) or a great prospect that is 19 or older (or a high pick this year, but I doubt any team would do that).

- Lilroot9

Hahahah no saracasm, impressed you analyzed all aspects of it.
I still like to see this team win but at the same time dont get frustrated when they lose. But lately id be surprised if we get a recycling bin for some of these players.

Another approach would be to target a seller. If we are targeting a solid player you'd have to think that a contender wouldnt part with one at the deadline but we also have what another selling team demands in picks and prospects. Would it be bad to go after a player like boedker at the deadline for some of these picks ? Would we save now compared to draft?

Joffrey Lupul
Ladislav Smid
2015 1st round pick
2016 2nd round pick
2016 conditional 1st round pick (if team reaches 2015 or 16 finals)

- homiedclown

I think that is only a deal that would be reached during draft time (when people know the Leafs did or did not win lottery and the Sabres know more of where the pick would be).

I would feel bad for Myers in Toronto though, he would get ruined. lol

I think the bolts won that trade big time when Cally stuck around with another contract
- homiedclown

They gave up another second or something, but they did win big time, surprisingly (even though my post may not have stated that better). I just think No trade clauses seem to hurt their team more (but then they are traded, so it would be their former team), but in this case Tampa did awesome. Although St. Louis is a 30-40 goal scorer, and the first rounders will be later first round. NYR are ok cause players WANT to play there, so FA seem to crawl there first anyway.

Not sure of value compared to draft time, but I say get whomever you can whenever (at this point). No one we can get at the deadline will save this team from finishing last. Not to mention all the other sell offs. Murray wants players further in development, so I would guess he would get a anyone he thinks will help the team (the sooner the better, but not this year).

If we just keep all the picks and dont get any other "veterans" our team salary in 3 years will be like 35 million and be a stud team, lol. (I know we need to get to cap floor for profit sharing and we will get there some way or another)

I'm not sure if high risk is a good description bcs it was considered a weak draft one middling 2nd and a very late one isn't going to probably turn out. High reward is an accurate description bcs his talent is off the charts. Teams were put off by his boisterous attitude and the Canadian media hated the kid. He fixes that and we probably have a legit first line winger. Can't put too much on a 18 yr olds attitude IMO there's almost always room for growth but you are right. Only time will tell.

The high risk might be true, except if he does not pan out, then they wasted 3 picks, but your right, who cares if the other two do nothing for your NHL team (forget about those AHL teams, lol).

That will cause major (perhaps permanent) issues. I can't imagine him staying in the league with that

Isn't that what Berard had? The Isles haven't been the same since he went down.

I can't imagine him being able to play anymore, that thing can come re-detached just looking around, let alone being hit by other players in the game.

Agreed. I mean we know sports has injury concern, but never want to see anyone get hurt long term. I broken bone is all part of the sport, but losing vision is crazy.

Actually, the only reason I wont get lasik is because I dont want to be the 1 out of a million that loses vision. Can't imagine that happening and what it would mean to my quality of life! Hoping for the best for him.

Nobody has ever lost vision from lasik surgery. The laser senses your eye a few hundred times a second and shuts down if you move even a little bit. I had it a few years ago and it is among the best things I've ever done for myself.
