Just QO him and get it done later in the summer... suspecting likely smaller growth in the cap will have a negative impact on new contract values... wait for that to be established first, then start trading numbers w/ the agent.

Or just qualify him and leave him hanging. What could they do? It might hurt you in future negotiations, but most players go for it all when they can, why can't a team. Maybe if teams start putting some clamps on salaries, it might change some things.

i'd say it's a pretty high probability you'd get a few good players with 15 1st round draft picks that would lets you have a stud team and set you up for the future as well because you made trade some of those players

Probably... like the old days when the Leafs and Habs owned all the best prospects due to geography and basically owned the Cup between them.

Imagine how much cap-space you'd have with most of your team on ELC's... and the return you'd get for some of these kids if you wanted to trade them for vets.
