Gilles was to blame as well. But to make like Luongovwas innocent in the whole mess is laughable

I'm just picturing Lu and Gillis in a board room trying to get a trade through and Botch is in the air vents with his tape recorder in one hand and his Richard in the other
- bezz44

You forgot to mention the birdie mirror, sticky taped to the inside of the vent, so that he can bounce up and down and admire himself like a parakeet while doing this.

Exactly...Gillis is easy(for me at least) to see through. He knows people are not going to take a second and think about why Gillis chooses to say this stuff to the public.

Been through it many times with people on here...Gillis blurts an accusation out that no one had yet reported, then the media poop pours out and people point and say, look how much the media is talking about it...must have truth. They quickly forgot that the only source was Gillis... the media was after. Gillis was doing this stuff often. He knew how to work the media like a whore works a John.

- boonerbuck

No one is defending Gillis on here . He may go down in folklore as the Titanic of the Canucks.

Let's talk about the owner. The owner contemplated long and hard , and had half a city ,and the media ,rallying behind him to spend 20 million dollars to buy out Luongo

He settled on about 5.6 million over the next 7 years and took in return a goalie that the former team gave up as a bust, and a third line centre.
What does it tell you when an owner is willing to pay 5 million to get this guy out of the dressing room and off the team.

Call me stupid ,but it doesn't sound to me like ringing endorsement to that star player.

The only two other goalies I have ever heard of in the history of the game where a team spent millions to ship a goalie out were Huet of the Hawks and Bryzgalov of the Flyers. That is not elite company IMO.

But I am sure other goalies like Cam Ward or Mike Smith cry and sulk when they get beaten for the starting job.

I am sure the owner of the Preds flies across the continent to tell Rinne that they traded the other goalie .
I am sure Price and Brodeur had these same problems over two years with their owners and GMs.

Yup Nothing wrong with Robetra it was all Gillis.

I didn't like him either but he won two Presidents trophies and had 2 SCF with two different teams.

Hard to argue with the numbers

A coaches job is to play the best players. AV should have been gone after the 2nd playoff lose to hawks. But Luongo ultimately got outplayed.
I personally give the owner the blame for the contract. Luongo Blane for being a whinny little female dog and Gilles blame for not lowering his expectation for return day #1.

No kidding, a three or four game skid could see the Canucks drop to 12th in the conference(out of 14)

Don't remember it ever being this tight

I think he was a good regular season coach but got out coached by Quinville Julien and Sutter.

He didn't have an answer or the horses to match up to a physical series

Didn't watch the game

Is this Ronalds Kenins kid any good?

or Are we dealing with a Jeff Cowan type situation again?

I see him as a Leo Komarov type player. Good energy, hits everything.

Exactly . Good comparison.

I don't know what will happen when Richardson comes back. Kenins gives hustle and hits every shift. High energy. And has two goals, three or four less than Higgins.

Time to move some players out and make room for the kids

All I know is Kassian must have felt real uncomfortable when He popped in the game tying goal.

2 goals in 3 games VS 2 goals in 26 games

Nice to see some of them pushing for a spot. Between Horvat and now Kennis and the likes of perhaps Jensen etc we could see a big turnover this summer

Luongo: 1% to blame; Gillis: 2% to blame; Landscaped changed: 110% to blame. The math works out.
