I keep trying to tie this period of relative futility/fan disinterest back to when I first started watching the Canucks in 1999, but...there's simply no parallel. Back then there's a team that's full of up-and-coming youngsters that buzz all over the ice and have several guys that just crush anything that moves in a dark (back then) away sweater. They struggled but you know they'll get better. This year's version just doesn't give me the same excitement...maybe they're a few years away from showing that promise I felt back then

or maybe that was just the product of being 10 years old

There will always be people willing to pay that price though, even if it is to see the other team play. We need to either tank and trade for picks, or trade the farm/picks for young nhl ready players/future stars. With what Benning wants to do right now, the only thing we can get is an older player that can help more than what we have right now for a playoff push. I wouldn't mind giving up top prospects/picks for young nhl players that are now and will be here for the next 10 years.

I kind of want a 5 game losing streak to happen(6 if you count Sundays game). That way Benning will likely be a seller and get prospects/picks for our older players from teams looking for a cup run.

Exactly........ I don't want to watch the canucks continue to struggle to score goals in the playoffs against a team like Chicago, St. Louis, Anaheim.

I'd like to watch Calgary and Winnipeg in the playoffs though.
