I think he plateaued at "disgusting."
AKA: cutting & pasting the best of the best, most asinine quotes, from previous articles comments sections and making an "article" about it...

- seedy

I just cant wait for him to be writing what will then be hypocritical "the Sabres are soo good" articles years from now....

Of course. They were built to lose like this. Its why I wasnt worried about that 10 in 13 streak.

Were you the one debating with me over the summer that we'd have 200+ goals because of Stafford, Hodgson, Ennis, Stewart, Moulson all being 20 goal scorers? Cant remember who that was, but man that prediction was awfully optimistic.

- theblueandgold

I was and they should be.

IMO this team is not only poorly coached but there is some zero drive factors from some of the players.

From the last blog and since it took me a couple mins to cut and paste these names, phew, I'm posting this again regarding defenseman taking longer to develop than forwards:

All these defenseman were taken in the 1st round in 2008 and pretty much all are developed to the point where they are who they are. There won't be some magic switch where they become 10 times the players they or 10 times worse.

Tyler Myers

Erik Karlsson

Michael Del Zotto

or what we pay him?

who cares, the right guys are doing well.

You want your AHL team to be calder cup competitive you load it up with fringe nhlers in their late 20's (the mancari's of the world).

meh...i'll take some of the heat for that one...did some simple projections and had the sabres as a team scoring between 177 and 188 goals...to get there, somebody had to hit 20 goals...

had stewart at 22 goals this season

staff, coho, ennis, stewart, moulson, girgens, gionta

between those 7 players, 5 or 6 should have hit 20 goals with ease this season

I didn't think 200 could be out of the question.

Like I said, poor coaching and no sh1ts given from some of the players equals this mess. All should be rectified in the coming years.

Add in the 30 or so from the back end and yeah, it really wasn't that far off.

Stafford, Moulson, Stewart, Hodgson are all 20G scorers that need others to create the time and space for them to score goals. They dont (guess I shouldnt say dont, since sometimes they do) but generally dont create chances on their own. Stafford and Stewart are the only 2 that really drive the net with effort on occassion. Moulson is a pure poacher. Hes utterly useless in board play and defensive zone. Ennis is the only 20G forward on the team that can create offense a number of ways. EDIT: I didnt finish my thought.... Looking at the roster coming into the season, (to me) it was obvious that these guys wouldnt reach those expectations because we were a poor possession team who bought out one of our best possession drivers and didnt bring in any significant ones.

I expected this team to be at least equally as bad as last year. But we're on pace to score a handful of goals less and nearly 50 more against...

12 goals this season from the D

Myers alone should have 12 by the end of the season

So I thought the Islanders were way out in front, well they are only 11 pts out of 9th place. One or two more injuries and that could be another lottery ball. Now if only the Blues would collapse too. Darn.

As stated months ago, how crazy would it be to have either of those two picks (or any newly acquired 1st rounder at the deadline) win the lottery?

NOW THAT WOULD BE WINNING THE MCDAVID LOTTERY! lol

That's because they're fringe nhl prospects. Besides for some of them it's their first year in the AHL.

As for the special teams stuff, again it really doesn't matter if they were really all that concerned about the special teams they would have gone out and gotten

And from what i've read the D outside of Pysyk and McCabe (and maybe Ruhwedel) is pretty bad. But those are the two d-men with any real nhl talent anways so again who cares if Gauthier-leduc and Brady Austin are under-performing ?

My realistic expectations was for this team to get better on special teams

Have continuity on the top 3 lines

Effort on each shift

Lack of stupid penalties

Clearing the front of the net on a regular basis

Players trying hard in every corner to dig out the puck

I have seen none of that

Ted Nolan may be the most over-rated coach in the NHL ever

I am becoming optimistic with Brycen Martin becoming a gem since his WHL trade to Saskatoon. A lot of talk coming from out west about how great a trade that was for him and Saskatoon. Hes playing with more confidence and purpose and upped his point production to ppg with his new team.
