I never bought into the Nolan Hype.
He is IMO better than Rolston, which is not saying much. - ImThatGuy
Rolston went 19-26-6 with this team

There was a fantastic piece written last year (I think) about how the top 8 rarely changes after Feb 1.
Staff for Reinhart? I would think it would be Staff++++++++ - Slump Buster
I would give any combination of UFA we have for him (not that I like him that much, but getting all 3 Reinharts might help us moving forward) or their second and later in the draft. Just need impact players sooner than later.
This is what the Sabres need to do, take advantage of teams in need. I wanted that Leddy that Islanders got early in the season too, should have dumped whomever. |

I bet if you watched 10 games from the Rolston era and 10 games from the Nolan era you'd never think that Nolan is the better coach. I don't know that one is better than the other but neither the record nor the feel of the games indicate that either of them are any good.

They shipped out quality vets after RR was canned, and brought in the placeholders. |

Leddy is a great example of a young guy that we should target.

Saying they have no problems doing it is wrong though. The draft after the top 60 is a crapshoot.
For every Nyquist they found they've also got a ton of picks that haven't played a single nhl game.
And those 3rd rounders on rochester were pre-murray, have to reassess after a few years to see what Murray does. |

I give credit to my fellow Sabres fans. They can tie their shoes and chew gum at the same time.
The tank is awesome, the coaching is a train wreck and I bet changes are in order for NEXT year.
See how that was done?

who cares, the right guys are doing well.
You want your AHL team to be calder cup competitive you load it up with fringe nhlers in their late 20's (the mancari's of the world). - Sabresfan-365
Look at the Sens. Their farm team is awesome. Their NHL team is scrubby. Who the hell cares. Like 365 says, it's all about the right guys doing well. Grigorenko, Armia, Pysyk, McCabe, Ruhwedel, Carrier, Larsson, Makarov and Hackett. And for the most part, they are. |

Same thing over and over here.
Myers sucks.
&
Nolan sucks.
The two constants.
A smattering of Hodgson and Stafford sucks every once and again.
But I still don't see the rationale of blaming a coach for this teams horrific play when the same posters assert themselves, that this team was set up for failure.
I'll never make any sense of that, ever, but it is your opinion of course.
I'll wait to throw Nolan under the bus until I see him get a chance to coach a roster full of NHL'ers not coaching AHL'ers on the NHL level.
I know many of you use the crutch "well if he was such a good coach and great motivator he would be getting more out of this team".
Like I said AHL roster playing in the National Hockey League.
Looks like not only the Sabres are set up for failure, but the coach has been as well.
But that's just my opinion and nobody will ever change it until I see the man given a legit shot at coaching a true NHL roster. |

I didn't say you did, I'm just saying those 3rd rounders playing poorly is of little concern to me, especially since they were basically written off long before Murray showed up.
I'm not saying the wings don't do well, I'm saying they don't hit on every pick and have their fair share of misses (including a grigorenko). And the sabres have occasionally hit on 3rd round picks around the amount you would expect. As good as Detroit? obviously not but I don't think those guys you mentioned playing poorly in the AHL has any sort of impact on the rebuid. In a year or two they'll be replaced by the new wave of 3rd rounders and beyond (Baptiste, Martin etc.) |
