I'm going to circumvent the Myers part and state why I don't think it would happen from Edmonton's end.

It's rumored that Hall asked for a trade, but if I'm Edmonton, he's the guy I'm keeping to continue building around. If I'm their GM, I'm more inclined to trade RNH or Eberle before Hall. Obviously the talent drop off beyond them is pretty large.

I think they should focus on trying to get Yakupov right, so they can turn around and flip him for an upgrade on the back end. They need to focus on trying to at least get some production out of the guys they have that are there so they can figure out where they really need to improve.

But, that's just my $.02.

- HonkFortheGoose

Unless hall absolutely forces his way out i would not trade him either. Now if they were looking to move eberle in a hockey trade, i would not trade myers for him, as there are probably cheaper options that are similiar.

From our standpoint i think it starts with pysyk but we would need to add alot to it for eberle. Yakupov for Pysyk would be much closer, but im sure there are people in edmonton who would disagree with that too.

Would have been interested to see what pysyk looked like all year here.

We definitely need to add some D prospects since after McCabe and Pysyk in Rochester there is only Martin.

Florentino will have a lot to say to that. I think he is as good as Martin.

I would be pissed if we did both of those deals.
- Herzeleid

I am not so sure I would be but I would be very hesitant on both due to a. the contract and b. the attitude.

I know the cap is really no issue, but those two are going to be looking to make potentially $12.5M combined over the next 3-4 years, at least.

Also, is either a true gamebreaker?

ROR would almost have to be playing wing.

Perhaps.

On another note, impressed that Yost has worked his way up to TSN. We have something to be proud of: https://twitter.com/Travi...status/563049646961201152

Not that anyone wants to hear anything more about Myers, but I was at the game last night in Montreal and I paid a lot of attention to watching him with the perspective you just can't get on TV.(plus a lot of TV watching)

1. He closes space between himself and forwards on the rush at the defensive blue line as well as anyone in the game due to his reach and skating. This causes turnovers or forces the forward to dump it in...even Montreal's speedy ones.

2. When he recovers the puck in the defensive zone, he creates space for himself using his size and reach and has a great deal of poise considering he's usually up against the other teams top 3. He usually makes a solid first pass.

3. Montreal's strategy with him was to be physical with him along the boards as he will occasionally turn the puck over when hit, however he didn't seem to have any trouble in front of the net or in keeping up with Montreal's speedy cycling of the puck down low.

Just some thoughts other than he sucks or his stats or whatever.

People that only care about stats dont notice things like gap control, defending areas of the ice, body positioning, skating lines, etc... Ive been hammering home how our defense are constantly under pressure and forced to make a decision with little to no puck support from the forwards. Its hard to make a break out pass when youre only option is to retreat to your D partner because the other team takes away the only options your teammates are giving you going forward.

I recall a sequence early in the first period yesterday where we cycled at our blueline in the neutral zone for seemed like a solid minute because there were no options going up ice and MTL was playing passive.

That's good of you to say Cab. This site and the way the convo was going didn't interest me much so a self imposed break seemed to be best. And what's with the ad block/white listing crap everytime you log on? I'll probably read more and post less in the future.

And hey slops, hope you're well buddy.

Ek's way of trying to get you to stop using Adblock (at least for this site) or buy the season ticket.

Since half the time I'm on a PC that doesn't allow me to block the ads, he'll just have to deal with the fact that I block them when I'm at home. It's a small nuisance, but just out of spite I refuse to change to one of his "suggestions."

Yeah, good point about our Defense being constantly under pressure..ect. It's a team game and yet that is usually the first thing overlooked. Same with the Offensive zone. Did Cody Hodgson suddenly take a Suck Pill this year? Did they hand them out to all of the forwards? No, we're usually unable to sustain any pressure down low and we turn the puck over which leads to easy break outs for the opponents.

Part of the reason we turn the puck over is they are playing dump and chase which really doesn't work in this league anymore unless you have a team full of speedsters which we don't. Again no real system that's on coaching.

Regarding possession, theres too many passengers, not enough drivers. We lack any player with the skill or knowledge to drive possession. And the passengers are more of the poaching variety. I hardly see Moulson moving to right areas anymore. I think if I went back and watched tape of him playing with Tavares, it was more Tavares finding him, than Moulson finding the open area for his scoring.

You know when people always complained of Ennis for a while... "he just skates around in circles" "doesnt use his teammates" "another afinogenov".. It wasnt until he got moved on a wing with Girgensons (who actually helps in driving possession and puck support) where we started seeing more out of him. His teammates werent giving him options even though he was creating open space. You cant stand still. You have to constantly be assessing the situation and make quick reads and move to the open areas.

This is why I'm excited for Reinhart and one of McEichel. We will finally have possession drivers on this team. Take a look at this quick analysis of Reinhart (scroll half way down the page unless you want to read about Zacha shortcomings).
