They said the same thing about Seguin.....I really think it's worth a shot....huge risk for sure. The kid is a talent...just seems it's attitude or immaturity. - landros 2
I think you look at the Seguin as a measuring stick. I believe Seguin is younger and better and the circumstances with Boston are similar. |

Don't blame you there. I'm not worried about the attitude or immaturity issues. More concerned with how good of a player he is going to develop into.

I think they're better off just moving him now even if the offer isn't the greatest thing ever. No matter what, they should get something decent for him now. He's not worth keeping around if the team doesn't like him. - PhillySportsGuy
If he's out with surgery, he's away from the team. There's no need to make a bad deal under the glare of bad press and a fresh incident. |

Thats pretty much how Richards was in Philly - PhillySportsGuy
Yep. The Winnipeg beats, at least a few of them, could easily step in and replace the Flyer beats with no missed chutzpah |

The Winnipeg stuff amuses me because like they say, winning is the deodorant that covers all odors
Now that they've dropped five straight, all hell's broken loose in Manitoba -- that poop should've stayed in-house - AllInForFlyers
Kane tweeted that he was going to Philly about a year ago prematurely. I wonder how close we really were. |

Funny, because the media in Winnipeg shreds Byfuglien and loves Ladd...Yet it was Byfuglien who dished out the tough love.
That's why you really can't read into the media's nonsense about bad attitudes and other nonsense. A guy can be a great team mate and be loved in the room, but if he's unwilling to feed the media, he gets a rep as a jerk. - Jsaquella
Fair point. You don't think being that Byfuglien is severely out of shape would cause his teammates to have an issue with him? I mean if he's not disciplined and ignores rules regarding conditioning it's kind of pot calling the kettle black when he tries to enforce rules in the room. I don't know, maybe I'm looking at it poorly, but that is kind of how my thinking would be. |

He's still around the team though. He also may not agree to the surgery. The team can't force him to get surgery.
Basically, what I'm saying is that Kane seems to be doing everything possible to get traded, so I don't see how he will be accommodating to the team unless they guarantee he'll be moved before next season. That takes away quite a bit of leverage from Winnipeg this summer.
Imo, the longer a guy is dangled on the trade market, the less valuable he becomes. I believe you need to strike while the irons hot when you're trading a talented player. Think about the guys who hang around on the trade market for years. They always end up being dealt for way less. |

Not sure I buy the severely out of shape stuff...he's a big dude, but he routinely plays a ton of minutes and is one of the NHL's highest scoring defensemen over the past 4 years.
He's a huge guy, but he always plays huge minutes and puts up great numbers. |

Is he out of shape anymore? The guy is huge, moves well and plays 25 minutes each night. If he's in bad shape, I want to see him in good shape. |

If his being 'fat' was any detriment on the ice, sure.
But we're talking about a guy who skates great, literally can play half the game. |

The team can suspend him, too. He's waiting to have the suregry, tell him you can have the surgery and be treated as an injured player(usually injured guys
get treatment and rehab away from the team) or be suspended and sit at home.
Can't make a bad trade just to make a quick deal. The Flyers let Lindros dangle and still got a very good return for him. |

The weight issue is likely to eventually cause some health issues, and could even cut his career short. The question is, could he also be a better player, if he lost some of the weight.

If I were the Jets and received a reasonable offer for Kane, I would make the deal now. I wouldn't hold out and hope for something over the top this summer.
I think it would be a big boost to the team if they moved a player the guys don't like and received a player who could help them this year and potentially a prospect or pick. |

It's always funny when someone who often criticizes others for "guessing" on medical matters offers an opinion on a medical matter and expects anyone to take it seriously. |

Yes. Poutine is incredible. Only cheddar cheese curds though. Cottage cheese is just wrong. - ThirdEye
There's a place here in Dallas that is serving poutine. Had one w/ duck confit, egg, gravy. Probably one of the richest dishes I've ever consumed. Unbelievable.

It could be, and I'd definitely be open to getting it over sooner, rather than later, but at the same time, I'd set a price and if it wasn't met, I'd wait. |

It's all for not. The Jets will never move Kane. They will hang on to him like the Oilers did with Hemsky and Gagner only to get a second round pick. |

I'm rooting for Chevy to make a player for player trade.
Actually, I do wonder if the injury will "scare" teams off from a pre-deadline trade. If you're going for him hard at the TDL, chances are you're looking at adding firepower for the playoffs. |
