yeah...and that would be a pretty good reward for going through all of the crap the past year or so...luke Richardson may be the name to watch...wonder if murray would bring him to Rochester on a lateral move if Nolan's behind the sabres bench next season? - Michael Pachla
I think you are on to something here and Rochester may hold the key to Nolan's future with the organization.
If Murray can bring his guy to Rochester to be the heir apparent to Nolan, then I think Nolan may stay.
If Murray's choice for the future isn't willing to wait it out in Rochester, then I think the move may be made in the off season.
The problem with waiting until sometime during next season is Murray's guy may not be available. Then you have to have an interim in place. Finally making a move after the season is finished.
How many coaches do you want shaping your new young core? At what point are you hurting their growth rather than nurturing it? |

My gut says that Murrary will upgrade coach if the opportunity presents itself (Babcock). I agree that Nolan can't be judged based on this year but I still have signifcant doubts that this guy is even an average coach in this league. |

i'm with you, don...methinks that murray, Nolan and Richardson are cut from the same cloth...
should be noted that Cassidy is not murray's guy in Rochester...he's a good coach that's struggling this year, but murray doesn't need to keep him either |

I have never really been away. I have been reading posts but to be honest I just have not watched any hockey. The Sabres just make me ill when I watch..... Hard to believe that I never missed a game until last year when I just got sick of their listless, don't care attitude on the ice....... It is one thing to stink but to not give 100% every game is unacceptable to me..... |

Good . Then ya can come back to WNY or you going to old folks florida? - cabin
Absolutely no Florida Cab.... Hard to say where we will wind up. Florida is out though... Way too hot there..... Three choices are Tennessee, Buffalo area or stay where we are....The state of New York may chase us out with the taxes though... |

If the information I just looked up is true, Richardson's contract is up after this season.
The plot thickens. |

Keep him or fire him? - Michael Pachla
When you can't get one or two players to preform to their potential, that is a player problem.
When you can't get any player to play to their potential or nearly at a level of what they did before, that is on the coach.
Nolan should be out before he does more damage. |

Awesome article, as usual Michael.
I don't think Nolan's in any kind of danger at all. We all knew what this season was going to look like going into October. This is still a team in flux, with a couple big money guys from the Regier era still hanging around. This still isn't "Nolan's team."
Football note: Completely disgusted that both Brady and Belichick will be first ballot HOF guys. They've never won a championship without cheating, and Brady gets all the credit in the world for throwing 5 yard passes to wide open receivers. It's a damn shame. |

Exactly. There should be NO DEBATE that Nolan gets the 15-16 season. To me it's a non topic.

I don't really have a say. I was never a fan of the Nolan hire. Thought it was more nostalgic than anything.
This team was set up to fail, everyone and their mother knows this. Is Nolan part of that set up? I have no idea.
Or Is he a victim of the circumstances? |

Seeing as we have solved what is going to happen with the coaches by page 2, what are we suppose to talk about for the rest of the day?
Hookers and Blow?
Glue?
Angry rodents?
Nelson Mandela?
Trading Myers (please no)? |

Sure, but *in theory* couldn't that be all the more reason to hire a placeholder instead of the guy you really want? |
