Surveyed some NHL scouts and feeling is that price on Evander Kane has dropped. One top asset could be enough to land him from #NHLJets.

Offer one of the later first and a B level prospect.

Remember last year when Ottawa was supposedly willing to give up Curtis Lazar for Chris Stewart?

Do we really want him?

I don't but that's just me.

What else can he do??

I'd take him. A lot of unjust criticism of the guy. He was suspended for wearing a track suit!

Buffalo. I don't think he lasts until June.

I do. Spooner sounds like a nice prospect. I'd do Spooner for Stewart...

"Slick, fast and creative, Ryan Spooner is an offensive-minded, puck-possession player. Masterful at carrying the puck, making defenders miss with paralyzing one-on-one moves and then finding the open man. He’s the kind of player who makes his linemates better. Praised profusely by Boston’s head coach Claude Julien for his intelligence. But in junior has shown a tendency to hot dog and lose focus on his defensive assignments."

Do we need more centers though? I guess since he's smaller, he could be a winger like they have put Ennis on every now and again?

A little late to the party, but not much to say after that read, Michael. I think you pretty much hit every point on the head. I'm of the belief that Nolan should get the chance to coach some semblance of a real NHL team before he gets fired. I'm an optimist. While he's not a strict X's and O's coach, i don't see his players going where hockey players are supposed to go on a play. And I also see good things happen when they chose to....like Hodgsons checking assist on Staffords goal tuesday. If anyone asked me if Hodgson would knock a guy off a puck and feed it to stafford for a goal prior to that game, I would have said "no." I blame a lot of the sabres play on the team. My opinion. Not stated as fact.

Firing Nolan right now won't prove anything. Murray is strategically planning his move for his long term coach. Nolan was paid to jump on the grenade and that's essentially what he has done.

IMO, it is easier for a C to transition to wing than it is a wing to center.

So I say the hell with it, get all the Center talent you can have. Injuries and such and a guy can just slide in.

As was pointed out, at the very height of his folk hero days, he went .500 with the best goaltender on the planet.

There are multiple players on this team having career worst seasons, or are at least on pace to hit that. It means one of two things: either the coach isn't putting the players in a position to succeed, or that the players have stopped playing for them. In most cases, that's grounds for firing.

That being said, firing Nolan today accomplishes nothing. Replacing him for next season would be the move to make.

That's a great point. it never hurts to have a guy comfortable on the dot when the center is thrown out.

Any impact winger will need to come from free agency or trade, not the draft.

Football note: Completely disgusted that both Brady and Belichick will be first ballot HOF guys. They've never won a championship without cheating, and Brady gets all the credit in the world for throwing 5 yard passes to wide open receivers. It's a damn shame.

Take away two bad plays and the Patriots could be 6-0 in the Super bowl.

Take away three bad plays and the Patriots could be 1-5 in the Super bowl.

out of my own laziness and needing to get caught up with work, does anyone know who is available next year besides Babcock? just in terms of contracts ending? At this point, I don't want the next big thing. I want a proven NHL coach if anyone comes in.

Other than meszaros, I have been doing my best not to judge anyone based on this year (even Hodgson). Don't get me wrong it's not easy watching every game just to have them get flooded the entire second half. But like many have mentioned we don't have anyone outside of maybe Ennis to create chances, they're role players and you cant blame them for doing something they're not meant or even paid to do. Moulson has never been the type to dangle through a defense but if he gets it in the slot he's expect to score. Kinda hard for him to deliver when we cant hold possession in the offensive zone.

Myers: always fun to talk about.. do we know what hes going to be in 3 years or even on a contending team?..no. What we do know his he has one of the worst roles in hockey besides a sabres goalie. A team that cant score or possess the puck means the puck has to be going the other way in a heavy, HEAVY direction. When you live in your own zone you're going to make mistakes. I personally dont think he's elite but he's still a great defensmen holding his own in the middle of a fire.

In conclusion, unless you receive a Ferrari there's no harm in keeping myers. Moulson, Cody and others shouldn't be judged on a year where they a required to do things they weren't signed to do. Flynn and Mitchell are great at their roles. Risto and Zads remind me of brothers. Risto the steady consistent hard working talent and Zads is the wild child that is always messing around but has the talent when focused (nice to see someone set up on prust last game). Lastly, I have a bad bad feeling that the goalie position is a way larger deal than expected.

I think you can never have too many centers...even if some end up on the wing.

I hope some of them are ready for full-time duty next year. I might be looking for a new team to root for soon.

I've never been on the "eff Brady" train. Not that I like him, but I just can't work up too much hatred for a guy when my team has been an absolute embarrassment essentially during his entire tenure. If the Bills were a good team, but couldn't figure out a way to beat him, my resentment would be much higher. All this deflate-gate crap is nothing more than sour grapes.

Tippet is a guy that seems to figure out ways to win with whatever he has (for the most part).

He also reminds me of Eeyore every time I see him.
