So they should be. We hope Virtanen can become the player that Kane is (without the drama). If they can acquire Kane without giving up Horvat, Virtanen or this year's 1st round pick then they should send everything else they have the Jets way. Likelihood of this happening, about the same as me winning the 6/49 (haven't bought a ticket in 10 years...) - 1970vintage
We are keeping McCann...
Maybe send Shink or Cassels?
I am not sure if they want another goalie with Pavelic and Hutchinson there... |

Kassian, Lack & Higgins should get it done.

If the cost was McCann, Hansen and Lack and a 2nd and Jensen and Cassels and whatever the fak else, I'd do that in a heartbeat.
EDIT - Dane Fox on his own should get it done... |

Kane > McCann - 1970vintage
McCann might be the prospect closest to filling the first line c position in the system... not ideally, but the best we have. |

Dude, all the other stuff (Jensen, Cassels, 2nd etc.) doesn't matter. It's all replaceable. If you could acquire an impact, top 6 forward without giving up your two blue chip prospects and this year's first round pick its worth it. Volume would never get a deal done, the Jets will want quality, and there's not a whole lot of that in the system. |

It isn't as if Kane doesn't have his own question marks about him. That's a lot of quantity to give up for a guy who doesn't seem to be a positive asset to have on a team |

Still don't want to part with McCann... unless we are able to pick up a better centre option with this year's first rounder...
I know you have to give to get in a trade, but we are really lacking in top 6 potential and don't have anyone in the system beyond McCann and Horvat that look like they could potentially play centre in the top 6... and I am sure people would say that is still reaching with these guys. |

So everyone understands that we really have no chance at the cup this year.... right?
So why not make a move on Kane?
Against:
1. The team may miss out of playoff revenue in a year when the Canadian Dollar fell and their sellouts have been few and far between.
For:
1. You begin to establish a new 1st line allowing the Sedins to become the 2nd line.
2. You get some value for next year and lose possibly Higgins and Kassian in the process.
So:
The trade would have to be bigger than Kassian + Higgins or Burrows as we woudl likely need a top 6 player to just hold down the fort until the end of this season as well...
I am "Go for it" --- Top 3 players do not come around often, hometown ones even less. |

You are misrepresenting the Against category.
Reasons not to go for Kane:
It will likely cost us one or more of our best prospects, of which we have a dearth
He has 1 season out of 6 where he has cracked 20 goals and has never played a full 82 games
He has a history of maturity and locker room issues
Also Evander Kane is not a bonafide 1st line player. On a good team he is a second liner |
