Some of those are done on purpose and not just out of anger though, right?

Agree get rid of them - VANTEL
People still giving you sh!t for "tanking" I see?
I can't believe how many people in our league seem to believe there is some beneficial strategy of watching one's team suck for an entire season in a free league only to get a #1 pick, as if that pick would suddenly make all the difference next season. |

Why can't your team be young and competitive?
But agreed a few guys take it too seriously. Like the guy who emailed MW about my trades "wrecking" the league |

There are very very few generational talents available out there - with every McDavid you get a Daigle - despite all the intense pre-scouting, analysis, player interviews, combines etc.
I would never advocate tanking. It goes against every single principle of competitive sports. Not only that, you are far from guaranteed that you'll be able to snag that magical number one pick (or trade for it) |

Gillis was more likely to acquire him than Benning IMO. - Nucker101
But gillis would have traded 10x what he is worth and retain 5m in cap to get him. |

I just watched the jets players reaction to Kane being benched.
Buff has a mouth full of chew on national TV, is that much better than showing up to a meeting in a track suit? I'm sure its not against team rules to be chewing in the dressing room or during interviews and I know a lot of guys do it but it seems strange to hear him spouting off about rules and discipline as he takes a dip. - belcherbd
Lol I'll never forget when he was playing for the Cougs, he was being disciplined for being lazy, and was forced to bag skate, while the goalies practiced and injured players skated while the coach ran over video with players. He just leaned against the bench and was spitting his chew. Then one of the boys with a broken leg was in the hall and whistled(signal that the coach was coming) so he started skating his tail off to make it look like he'd been giving Er the whole time. |

I guess, but you'd think he'd consult people who've been in the organization since he's been with the team, especially if he's already sold on his ability and was considering signing him long-term. Personally I think it had more to do with Tanev's lack of truculence. - Nucker101
Do you think Benning is a meathead who only values truculence? The Vey signing would indicate otherwise.
Let's not forget that Tanev has taken another significant step forward this year. People weren't stressing over getting him locked up long term last June so why would Benning after limited exposure to the player?
He will get signed for reasonable dollars in the near future. I had drinks with him on NYE and he seemed to get along well with his teammates and like the City. |

Unless we lose them to UFA, we have a few players that need resign and will likely get a raise(like Dorsett) at best we are looking at an xtra 3mil cap space which will only cover tanev's raise. we lose a bunch of players(probably don't need some like sbisa, richardson) but it still doesn't leave a lot of room. Last time i had checked capgeek before it went down we only had about 2mil available right now. |

Why do people on here think that the organization doesn't like Tanev? That's ludicrous...he receives praise every game from the coaching staff. We can't tell whats going on with negotiations but speculating that they aren't going well is based on absolutley nothing. Perhaps tanev has told his agent he won't negotiate until the end of season. Who the f**k knows - CanuckDon
Of course there has been some friction in his negotiations, he's an RFA. They get whittled to a nub during contract talks. You would be stupid not to, why pay more then you absolutely have to? To be nice?
He's played first paring minutes all season and he's killed it, dude's gonna get paid.
I reckon that if he's out for an extended period the trade Tanev talk will be gone by the time he gets back. |

Fair points but he is an RFA without a lot of leverage. Offer sheets don't happen anymore. My prediction would be 4 years $18MM |
