I'm not trying to change Alberta, it's trying to change me.
Of course not everyone is an bumhole here, but there's a lot.
bumholes back home too, but at least I don't have to listen to albertan female dog about taxes or whatever. - Arctic_AARDVARK
So you do not share the average albertans political views i'm guessing... Pretty normal for most ontarians I have met out here, some right wingers from On are out here to though... |

Goalies (for the most part) never fetch that kind of return so it's moot |

Kessel was the same situation with Boston no?
Contract impasse if I remember correctly - Dozzer
Well one, Kane isn't as good as Kessel. At least IMO.
And two a contract impasse is different than "This guy has a terrible attitude and can't get along with team mates and coaches to the point we have to get rid of him."
Basically attitude problems of this degree look much worse to the acquiring team than a guy who is just asking for more money than his current team wants to give him. Again, IMO. |

Everyone getting politically correct on me here
If you think people here are nice, and welcoming to newcomers you gotta be high.
And by Alberta I mean oilfield workers. I don't care about 17th ave in Calgary.. - Arctic_AARDVARK
I just thought it was an amusingly hypocritical statement. I spent a couple days in Edm last fall and that's my entire experience with North Texas.
BTW - did you end up accepting that new roommate with the interesting job? |

Fair enough, the ol "this guy has baggage" scenario
He's also very young yet, a smaller market team with a good veteran core would be best for him I think.
Put him in a market like NY and there could be issues |

That's true. I still think NYI would be a good market for him. I would take him on the Preds honestly. I think Fisher and Weber could get his act together |

True.
Nabokov was just on waivers, it was the perfect chance to move one of the goalies.

I thought I was the only guy in here who's giving Bernier a pass on the 2nd half of this season and still think he can develop into a top tier goalie.
At the same time, if that 1st was in this draft.... |

i like Calgary.. would put them as one of my fav other teams to cheer for
1 - Leafs
2 - Future other Toronto based team
3 - Future Las Vegas Team
4 - Calgary/LA/Edm

I definitely do not.
That being said, I'm respectful of their opinions. But when that high of a percentage of people in 1 province vote one way, there's obviously a stubborn population who hold apathy toward people who vote the other way. I think Americans are more polite and educated than most Albertans meet.. But I don't know any texans..
Either way, it's a non-issue to me because heading back to where I belong. |

Plus, the media in Nashville couldn't possibly care less about hockey. Which is always helpful for a guy like that. Ask Ribeiro |
