except production isn't the only thing you look at in defensemen. 52nd in offense, and (frank)ing awful defensively. He gets points because he takes shots on the PP, and they either go in, or get a rebound. And that's great. But it's nothing MA Bergeron hasn't done.

Teams will pay for that kind of production, but it won't get you wins.

Franson's strength is his offense, and it's hardly elite level.
He constantly overvalues himself, and will want top pairing money when he's no better than 2nd pairing... at best.

I think Kane can still become a consistent 30 goal scorer if playing with the proper center and of course an change in attitude. Seguin is a centerman and does not need a setup man. Different players. I like them both.

Franson is one of few players that Ive noticed who can seemingly adapt to systems and play. He has hockey IQ. Not the greatest player, no....but i'd rather keep him around if we could.
