There isn't a need to go off the deep end with a regular season loss to the Hawks. A one goal game and we are missing a couple of guys that are important to the team.

As Aaron Rodgers would say, Relax.

No deep end here but concerned about the pattern I see in how the defense is playing, assuming they are being coached that way.

Reaves stick wasn't moving. He isn't responsible for getting out of the Blackhawks way, despite the refs calling it as such.

Blues might need to start throwing dirty checks and taking dives like the Blackhawks do in order to beat them.

Backes by himself is dirtier than the entire Hawks roster minus Carcillo. Ott's hit on Krüger today was just as bad as Seabrook's hit on Backes last year. Both attempted legal hits, both players being hit stumbled just before contact and ended up in a bad position. The only difference is Krüger didn't lay on the ice like a little female dog...so no penalty, and no suspension.

Dude, backes is a hard-nosed player who finishes his checks. He doesn't hit extremely late, nor does he ever intend to injure, i.e. aiming for head contact via leaving the ice. And he's a total class act. He forgave seabrook like it was totally ok when seabrook apologized last year in the handshake line. I wouldve popped seabrook had I been backes, after that punk had that proud smirk on his face after nailing backes's head into the glass last yr... Don't be ripping Backes.

I'll admit ott IS a little dirty. He hits late and commits borderline illegal hits. But not even he intends to injure. He just wants to mess with your emotions and tick you off.

Look, if youre gonna go after the classiest player in the league and say silly things like we're "the dirtiest team in the league", youre too ill-informed to have a conversation with... Go ahead and respond all you want about how Backes is some head-hunting ape, but you sound ridculous.

Backes and classy in the same sentence? Been hitting the sauce a bit hard today?

There was nothing to forgive. It was accidental head contact, just like Ott on Krüger today. It happens. Of course if Backes wasn't such a douche he wouldn't have had a target on himself to begin with. But he is. He is a douche.

According to you, every line change is dirtier than the Seabrook hit on Backes last year. You're an idiot.

Just let the hawk fans talk they won yesterday the blues did not show up at all for this game.

It was game 3 all over again.

Shots right in to Crawfords chest

Zero puck movement

Lots of fancy passes that dont work against Chicago they are too fast

Just terrible third period

Ells should have had all three goals today

The first one why in hte heck didnt Cole charge Kruger and force him to move instead of letting him skate right in and beat elliot

Butler needs to go

Bo and Pie are fine

The refs were suspect but the hawks made the plays to draw the penalties

There were some obvious no calls on Chicago

playing with 8 men

The slash on Jaden

Carcillo with the broken stick

Carcillo instigating a fight with ott

Why didnt hte refs let them go?

2 players need to go, maybe 3.

Stastny
Bouwmeester

Bouwmeester and Stastny certainly. That would open up 12 million in salary and bring players that want to play. Bouwmeester cannot skate and makes poor decisions. at least 3 times today he gave up while trying to obtain the puck.

7 mill for 30 pts for stastny……….

- BluesDroogie

I said these 2 players were vastly overpaid and very overrated.

Armstrong brings both players in and some are starting to see the light on these 2 players.

once again Hitchcock out-coached AGAIN! by one of the 3 teams the BLUES can't beat at home now too as well as on the road to try to advance to a CUP final!

1 scoring chance in the 3rd period... UNACCEPTABLE!!!

i didn't see one BLUES D man out there that should feel safe from a trade out there today! BLUES need someone that clear the front of the net this group is not getting it done!

it's official the Butthawks are getting all the calls in the West now that Red Terds left to go to the EAST!

i watched the game on NBC the national broadcast and what a joke can Comcast tilt these games anymore to their big markets like CHI! OLCYZK should just wear his butthawks jersey in the announce booth... can he tongue towews, kane, hossa anymore without having a permanent brown ring around his mouth.

- bird diggler

And who hired Hitchcock?

I see a pattern....

Both Stastny and Bouwmeester in my opinion are simply underperforming and need to play better, that's how I look at it.

They're only overrated if someone is expecting them to be something that they historically are not. I don't think that's the case with either.

Bouwmeester recently has really been a hot mess out there. He and Pietrangelo had a real solid January but since, 19's game has gone to poo.

And Stastny somewhere along the line has to step up and be a difference maker. So far, he's greatly underperformed.

The Blue will need to find that extra gear and ramp up their game from this point forward. If they don't, they'll finish either second or third in the division and will face Chicago in the first round and will be gone. Currently, Chicago is their daddy.

Stastny is playing poorly. I forgot that he played for your team until midway through the game when I heard his name.

DISAGREE
About the complaints regarding the reffing non-calls. Trust me. If these teams meet in the play-offs, you won't want the games to be called closely.

What was close about the way it was called yesterday?

Hawks had one penalty called on them that was a Delay of Game which could have had 6 or 7 more penalties

Blues had 2 penalties called on them could have been 4

You cant swallow your whistle that much you just cant

The game was turned on a ticky tack hook that Richards imbelished

either let them play like Chicago was hooking and grabbing all game or call it like they did on bo

I'm all for a playoff rematch for a lot of reasons.

I guess I have a different view as most Blues fans on yesterday. I'm fine with the non-calls as that was mostly consistent but the Jaybo hook should also have been a non-call. Regardless, teams need to win in spite of officiating and to take advantage of officiating when they get calls like that one. One team did one of those and one didn't.

See Bernie's article:

http://www.stltoday.com/s...a0-9a19-752c78e53fc5.html

Stastny is almost a point per game player over the last 20 games. He's also fifth in the league in goals scored in tie or one goal games in the third period with 10 minutes left (what an awful stat to try and explain).

I would like him to be a difference maker against Chicago, Anaheim, Nashville, etc.

Yep Statsny has really come on. How soon you guys forget how we pretty much had 3 lines on fire last month and it was making it hard for teams to get matchups they wanted against us. Then Lehtera went down and we had only really had 2 scoring lines again. The 4th line tried to pick up for a while, but they aren't really goal scorers. Rattie isn't ready and it really showed. Good news is Lehtera is coming back tomorrow and they just sent Rattie down!
