Yep Statsny has really come on. How soon you guys forget how we pretty much had 3 lines on fire last month and it was making it hard for teams to get matchups they wanted against us. Then Lehtera went down and we had only really had 2 scoring lines again. The 4th line tried to pick up for a while, but they aren't really goal scorers. Rattie isn't ready and it really showed. Good news is Lehtera is coming back tomorrow and they just sent Rattie down!

This. The Hawks have had virtually zero injuries all year.

It was a pretty good game until the third period though. I hate day games and that one was way too early. Both teams were gassed in the third.

I said these 2 players were vastly overpaid and very overrated.

Armstrong brings both players in and some are starting to see the light on these 2 players.

- Trust In Jarmo

You are an idiot. Plain and simple. Is Stastny a little over paid for sure. Is he worth it? For sure. We weakened one opponent and gained a valuable player. He continues to make plays and create scoring chances. Saying only thirty points is missing when he was under used, got injured and took a few weeks to get into the play and usually plays with Berglund. How many times already has he set up Berglund with a near empty net and Berglund hits the post or misses the net? At least five times already.

One problem the Blues players have is always trying to get Tarasenko the puck. When two pplayers cover the guy use it to your advantage. While Tarasenko is great he has been trying to do too much. It doesnot completely bother me because he seems to be figuring out what he can do. Someitmes the olayers like to see what they can get away with and then the game will change in the play offs.

Not too worried about the third period shots against the Hawks. The Blues were shorthanded without two of their top players and had just played sven game in like ten days, or three games in less than four days to the Hawks two games in less than three days.

Only concerned with Elliott being beaten so easily on shots lately. I get the big direction change shots but clean shots no. When Hitch stares a goalie down you know he did not like the goal and felt the goaltender was capable of making the save.

But my biggest concern is the way the Blues have their defensemen backing in. This getting on Butler, Petro and JayBo is silliness. JayBo has had a couple of bad games. Maybe he just needed some extra rest? They will make mistakes all of them. But these are all really good defensemen. Why they are being coached to back in so much I am not sure. Part of it has to do with back checking and losing the puck when the forwards are north. Still with as good as Elliott and Allen tend to be on break aways I would rather make a mistake being agressive than just give away free time and space. Time and space are the hardest things to come by in the NHL and here the Blus are just giving it away and then turning themselves into screens for the goaltenders.

See Bernie's article:

http://www.stltoday.com/s...a0-9a19-752c78e53fc5.html

Stastny is almost a point per game player over the last 20 games. He's also fifth in the league in goals scored in tie or one goal games in the third period with 10 minutes left (what an awful stat to try and explain).

I would like him to be a difference maker against Chicago, Anaheim, Nashville, etc.

- eggsegan

Exactly but he has not played bad against the good teams either. He makes great subtle plays. But hey I just see what I see and then there are stats that happen to back it up.

Especially since the Blues hd just played what eight or nine games in like eleven or twelve days? Three games in less than four days? You had to know the Blues would be tired in the third.

I trust this team in the olay offs to be honest. I am nit picking. I am concerned about the backing in by the dmen. Too much free soace given.

I also suspect there is some cat and mouse ging on with the Blues. A lot of teams rely heavily on video. If you know you can play some different ways and you can do well giving a certain look it can be worth it.

I guess I am one of three on here that are idiots.

Curious to see if that number grows by May.

Maybe not an idiot. But yeah people calling for Petro to be traded are idiots.

But you are a piece of work. You come on here and dump on this team with out udnerstanding what you are saying. So perhaps the better adjective for you is ignorant.

You do not talk hockey you talk scapegoating. We scapegoat our emotions but there is only one player on the Blues I do not care for and tha is Lindstrom. I understod the gamble and it was a good one and a smart play at the time. Know one knew for sure how Lehtera would do and Lindstrom adds depth and is hungry to prove himself after some great seasons in Sweden.

Now where are the problems? Stastny? Need we recall the anger we all had seeing him succeed in Colorado? We over paid by maybe a half of a million. The term is fair, we weakned an opponent and got depth.

Stastny is a clutch player and has been scoring lately. All he does is create chances, wins most of his face offs and plays sound positionally in his own end. No one would pay so much for a second to first line center? That is crazy. If the Hawks had the cap space you do not think they would have paid good money for him? Colorado wanted to manage their cap being spent on six very good forwards, that is the only reason they did not pay so much.

Who wants a point per game centerman who excells in the play offs who is from the same town as the team? Probably no one except Armstrong.

Figure that one out.

Trust in Jarmo rivals some of the Blackhawks fans that come in here with his level of hockey knowledge. He is always good for a laugh. Its funny he was no where to be found during the 13 game point streak. He is just a jealous troll who gets a rush out of pushing us when we are down.

Trading Petro at this point would be one of the dumbest things we could do. I would only trade him if we fail in the playoffs again and decide to change things up and go back to rough and slow D, an elite player is coming back, or a rebuild. I don't think either of those is going to happen.

Some of these people need to actually watch the games and not just pull up the stats on blues.nhl.com.

I, for one, certainly wish Jarmo were General Manager of the Blues.

Oh, wait. No I don't.

I find it ironic that I'm being referenced as the "idiot", yet you are the second person to say trading Petro is a horrible idea when quoting me. I never mentioned Petro at all.

Because I clearly said Boumesiter and Stastny were the two I had issues with.

But please continue...

I should not have posted so quickly after a loss as anger was still rising. Also should not have said Stastny and Bouwmeester need to go and possibly Petro.

What i should have said was that Bouwmeester has had a couple of poor games and it seems had some trouble skating, (as i mentioned in an previous post, he might be playing injured)

Stastny just has not shown me much. Sometimes i don't even realize he is out there. I understand that he was new to the organization and then was injured and was playing with different line mates every game to start the year. That contributed to his lack of success early and as of late has played better.

I realize that the Blues were in a terrible stretch of 8 games in around 14 days and 3 games in 70 hours or so and playing against 2 top teams in the league like Tampa and Chicago should never be considered easy.

I let my emotions take over that day as i saw sloppy play that i have not witnessed out of Bouwmeester.

Hopefully a good well rested team can show up tonight and The boys can get on the right track.

Start? The dirtiest team in the league needs To start throwing dirty checks?

- Ogilthorpe2

10 Blackhawk suspensions over the last 5 seasons. Several fines as well.
3 Blues suspensions over the last 5 seasons. No fines.

There is a difference between being physical, like the Blues, and being dirty, like the Blackhawks. I realize this is a concept beyond most bandwagon fans, IE 75% of people who go to Blackhawks games; but just look at who keeps getting suspended. Blackhawks, because they are one of the dirtiest teams in the league. Blues don't, because they play physical not dirty.
