Not advocating - just a question: couturier and one of our Dmen for Kane +. Yes/no? Move Schenn to second line center, etc.
Coots is my favorite player btw - wilsonecho91

What does that accomplish? We need scoring depth, not a 1st line LW that you have to give up our 2nd line Center for. |

Gives them natural wing and scoring depth. Is coots not replaceable by Schenn or Laughton? |

Depends heavily on the +.
If it's somebody like Petan or Kitchon, a good prospect, I'd want an additional pick. If it was one of their uber prospects, like Morrisey or Ehlers, Yeah, I'd do it |

i like coots, but that latter scenario tends to really puff him up a bit, no? |

I think if we traded Coburn to a team like the LA Kings for a second round pick, not only do we show how much we under value him, we just handed Drew Doughty the perfect D partner and possibly handed LA another Cup. That's what I think. If your gonna sell Brayden Coburn, sell high and work your way down.
If the Flyers are serious about Evander Kane, I think they should move one or two heavy deals for certain assets, whatever they might be. Then take those assets, see what you have left over and put something reasonable together for Kane. If the Jets don't bite, it's always nice to get somethingback for players that might not be any good to us anymore. |

Why? - wilsonecho91
When it comes to assets I would be willing to give up Couts for, a 1st line wing is not one of them especially when this "1st Liner" comes with baggage and career best of 57 points. Giroux and Jake have worked fine with guys like Hartnell or Raffl, so I don't put first line left wing high on our priority list. |

Missed the 3rd and am just getting caught up now.. So Cooter had a breakaway in OT and didn't score? Tell me that he at least got a good shot away and Halak had to rob him. - Hextall271
I could tell you that, but then you'd think I'm a liar. |

In the short term, Schenn yes, Laughton no.
It seems we have 2/4th lines, & 1/3rd line now.
And a first line struggling to create space.
The lack of forechecking pressure, & shots looks more like we need another scoring forward, worse than a defenseman. |

Why is Read getting 7 minutes more ice time than Wayne Simmonds?
Hamburglar had more ice as well. The supposed" 3rd line" played MUCH better than
14 24 18
4th was by far the best |

Actually, the Simmonds line was not very good at all. They generated 1 shot through the first 40 minutes. They had some physicality, but we're not especially effective, just like every other line. |

I think that's a deal I would make.....Might have to be other parts because of salary...but with Flyers depth at center.....I do it .

I liked White in the middle a lot more.....line didn't seem to have much cohesion.

A better trade for both clubs might be B Schenn for Kane. Basically, our center-LW for a straight up LW. I think given Kane's issues and contract, they'd have to give up a little more. It would n't be Morrisey or Ehlers, but maybe another prospect.
But for them, when Ehlers comes up next year they have a Center for him, or could play Schenn on the wing. For us, Kane is a more physical version of Schenn that still has potential.
The fact that Buff couldn't get Kane in line worries me though. Not sure I'd do it at this point. |

The 4th line was the only good line and seemed to play hard every shift.
I would find a way to give Simmonds more ice than Read. That guy is lost.

I'm not sure if I would straight up. Kane's hurt. He has the raw skill, but he's struggled to consistently put up the points. At least with Couturier, when the points aren't coming, he's still playing excellent defense and largely driving play away from the Flyers net.
Toss in the cap hit factor, plus the immature behavior and it's hard for me to jump at a straight up deal. But if I can ditch a bad contract while adding a very good prospect and a pick, I'm more inclined to agree. |
