@NHLhistorygirl: On this date in 1998, #Canucks traded Trevor Linden to #Isles for Todd Bertuzzi, Bryan McCabe and 1998 3rd round pick (Jarkko Ruutu)
Best trade in Canucks history? - LeftCoaster
Yes! |

I just saw on tv where sportsnet said that the best place for Kane to go now is Vancouver Canucks. If he gets traded to other teams, he will probably slack off and skip games. If het gets traded back to his hometown, he'll probably play his best. Vancouver has Trevor Linden in which Kane respects him the most in the NHL and always listens to him and Canucks staff are very good with disciplines. Plus the Sedin's leadership will make him mature a bit. He won't be learning any of these in Winnipeg other than taking penalties and crosscheck anyone whose in sight - BeatStriker
At first when I heard the rumour I said here we go again. After watching how soft this team is , we need a bit of edginess.
His parents are her to keep closer tabs . Linden and Benning good role models also.
The kid came out the other day and said he liked playing for WD. The fact that he did all this in Vancouver leads me to this is where he wants to be.
Combine that with the fact that this team is a bunch of cream puffs. I am thinking it is a good fit as long as Horvat MCCann Virtanen or the first are part of the deal. |

Only thing is Jensen...with our time invested we may want to give him a legit shot here. Then again that's what was said about Schneider too after investing 4+ years in his development...
- LordHumungous
Jensen has a lot of time invested, but i hear he can be quite lazy. I would keep Shink over Jensen at this time. Shink has talent and is a work horse. Jensen has a good chance of being another Kassian. Trade him while his value is up. |

I know you say *if* but 4-6 months recovery...doubt he's going anywhere til the summer. - boonerbuck
Hard to say, if the Jets really want to cut ties and focus on the playoffs this year I could see it. Either way I don't think Van has much of a chance in acquiring him. |

I'd imagine most GM's around the league would prefer Shinkaruk, but who knows since he did "fall" in the draft. If they have equal value then I'd definitely prefer moving Jensen. |

I don't think it's that easy - Nucker101

I'd imagine he's going to be less involved and not much of a distraction now that he's out so the Jets do actually have the luxury of waiting until the draft now, so it may not be as much of a buy-low at this moment as some of us would hope. At the draft they'll definitely be more urgency for the Jets to deal him. |

His fall in the draft can be largely due to the injury he had in his junior year. Teams didn't know if he'd be able to keep up in development. If he hadn't gotten injured he likely would have been top 10 pick that year. |

This is why I hope they'd keep Kassian around as well if this were to happen, I feel like he's the type of player who would be more physical if the team around him was. Add Kane and Virtanen next year and I bet he'd mix it up more often instead of trying to be Henrik Sedin.
My money is still on Kane going elsewhere. - Nucker101
I think so too. When someone has your back it is easier to be braver |

I think it will depend on how the Jets are doing going into the deadline, if they need to add a good player, he is probably the best chip they have. |

True, but that would likely throw the Canucks out of the mix. I don't think we have a true impact player we could offer, unless Benning wants to trade Bonino. Kassian is still a project, Higgins has a limited NTC, Hansen and Mathias are depth/role players. |

Yup, that was my point earlier I think there are teams who can offer the Jets an impact player who can afford to wait for him to be back next season. The Canucks are not one of them.

They would have to sell low for playoff help with the main piece of the trade being out for the season... but they would be willing to take Vets for playoff help. This increases Van's chances, but I'm with you. This team lacks the assets to pull it off without them gifting us some of the value.
Doubt Evander gets any favors from his current management.
