Some good points, a couple I disagree with, but overall this paints a fairly objective picture of the Flyers cap situation and issues moving forward.
My main objection is that they call Coburn a boat anchor. He's a guy that should have some value. |

maybe if kimmo comes back and he plays with coburn, then coburn can find his game again and regain some trade value. if he comes back next year they would be able to trade him at the tdl with him being ufa the next summer. |

I'm more worried that they can't move guys out than adding pieces. I'm ok with patience and waiting for the kids to develop, but I'd like to add assets for some of these guys and I'm not sure that will work with the possibility of a small cap increase or even stagnation.

I think Coburn's value is fine, assuming they want to deal him. There should be a demand for him. The hold up there might be term, but if Coburn is playing with a good partner, he's worth that $4.5mm, IMO. |

It's not the greatest, but if they really feel crunched and really want to do something, they could just buy out Wheels and Zombie, maybe not for next year but the year after
They aren't as loose as any of us would like, but they could move Coburn and be 4.5 to the good and not necessarily be any worse on the ice, though I wish Coburn had played better
Wheels could retire, too -- I wouldn't rule that out. I really wouldn't |

Coburn still has value, either now or at the draft. Not even worried about that |

I would have mentioned Grossmann as more of an anchor than Coburn. |

What the hell do you expect? Simmonds has spent way to much time playing with guys like Laughton, White, Rinaldo, Etc... get the guy a quality playmaker to center him and watch him score 35 goals. RJ wouldn't score 35 even if Peter Forsberg was his center. - BiggE
Simmonds has played with every player on the damn team. It is time you stop making excuses for the guy. He played with Couturier and Read and did nothing, played with Giroux and Voracek and did nothing, he played with Schenn and Laughton and did nothing. They guy has played on every possible line with every possible combination and has contributed NOTHING 5 on 5. |

His stint on the first line had him playing out of position, (LW).
I don't recall his 2nd line stint lasting too long.
I guess his 60 points last season was a farce? - puckhead17
60 points, how much was on the Powerplay? If you read you will see I am criticizing his even strength game not Powerplay. If you look at last season's stats he had 24 PPP compared to 36 points at even strength. That is not good. |

Lotta buzz around Leafs, they recalled goalie Antoine Bibeau on emergency basis, but both goalies are supposedly healthy. |

True, though I think both can be moved w/o eating salary. Vinny might be moveable after his July bonus is paid but they will likely have to eat 40% or so of his deal.
AMac is completely untradeable at the present time, maybe in a couple more years, but not any time soon. Umberger will probably be here another year and then bought out. Trading L Schenn or Read right now makes little sense cause their values are both pretty low.
Streit is interesting. He's played very well but he's no spring chicken. If they can get a first for him, I'd make the deal. Finally, though he's played ok, if I can move B Schenn for a true LW 25 or younger, I'd do it. There's no point holding on to him to be part of deal for a young dman as nobody is moving quality young dmen these days |

Has he, as a Flyer, ever played 10+ consecutive games at right wing with a quality playmaking center?
Answer: no
Get back to me once he's had that opportunity |

So basically he is a good player but he can't actually do anything unless a playmaker center does all the work for him? |

I think it may take until the summer to make some moves. You get a guy like Schultz who might have value at the TDL, because he's a FA, but term can hurt if teams are legitimately worried about the cap next year. |

I like Simmonds, and think he's a good player. But he is streaky and I think he does need a good playmaker to improve at ES. |

Most power forwards require a playmaker on their line to excel |
