The Flyers do not have a cap problem. - Giroux_Is_God
Yup, they have a "too many mediocre players signed to bad deals" problem

I think it may take until the summer to make some moves. You get a guy like Schultz who might have value at the TDL, because he's a FA, but term can hurt if teams are legitimately worried about the cap next year. - Jsaquella

Most power forwards require a playmaker on their line to excel - BiggE
Agreed. I don't think there is anything wrong with getting him some help. Watching Simmonds being centered by Danny Briere was enjoyable at the time. |

I think Coburn's value is fine, assuming they want to deal him. There should be a demand for him. The hold up there might be term, but if Coburn is playing with a good partner, he's worth that $4.5mm, IMO. - Jsaquella
I used to think he was worth a late first round pick but the way teams are holding onto their 1st round picks I'm not sure he brings that anymore. |

It's possible he isn't. I'd consider taking two early second rounders, if a team had them. I think he could get a Boychuk level return, still. |

Lotta buzz around Leafs, they recalled goalie Antoine Bibeau on emergency basis, but both goalies are supposedly healthy. - Jsaquella
I watched them last night, against the Devils.
They have given up. You can see it all over them. They are begging for trades -- not one trade. That is a roster where multiple guys have clearly been beaten down to the point where they are ready to go.
Kypreos said they had clearly checked out |

They're a mess. Once in awhile they play like they did against the Flyers-generating chances and play solid defense, then the next they look like 5 guys playing during open hockey |

Giroux (26), Voracek (25), Mason (26), Simmonds (26), L.Schenn (25), B.Schenn (23), Couturier (22), Read (28), Laughton (20), Del Zotto (24), Morin (19), Sanheim (18), Gostisbehere (21), Hagg (19), Stolarz (21).
We have a pretty good crop of young and/or high drafted player. I'm hoping we can add, while cutting the fat. |

That was Mike Johnson's thing. He was saying that they have tried playing tighter hockey, playing like Peter Horachek has asked, but now that they have kept on losing, they have been broken
The Flyers game might have killed them -- Johnson was saying that if they had gotten any kind of result along the way, they might still have some will left. That game against the Flyers was one where they played well enough to get something and got absolutely nothing |

Mase G and Jake are the real core.
I think Couts and Simmer are next level and probably core keepers, but those guys I would trade in a hockey deal, for a young D guy with top pair potential.
The rest, well there are guys I like and some like Streit they would have a hard time replacing, but none I wouldn't trade in the right deal. |

very tough situation
the guys leading are kessel and dionne who get hammered there and shouldn't be the leaders
the young guys like gardiner, kadri and rielly are great but need vets to lead them still and they don't have them |

JVR and Franson I think get moved. No one will touch Dion or Kessel. Leafs made their bed with those buffoons. Now they get to sleep in it. |

Talking about VV, and White, started me thinking about the D. If #5 can stay in the box, and McD can join him, why not bring up Manning? He is more stable than McD, and maybe the turnovers will stop killing us. In addition, it will keep our PK off the ice, until they can figure out how to play on the road. - OrangeAndBlack1
I keep reading about all the turnovers from MacDonald. He has been charged with 12 giveaways in 40 games.

Pretty much. It's dire. - Tomahawk
It's not at all dire in my opinion. Flyers don't have any big players up for renewal, proabably are going to trade a defenseman or two. Also a slim possibility of trading Lecavalier, and a possible buyout of Umberger.

It's not the greatest, but if they really feel crunched and really want to do something, they could just buy out Wheels and Zombie, maybe not for next year but the year after
They aren't as loose as any of us would like, but they could move Coburn and be 4.5 to the good and not necessarily be any worse on the ice, though I wish Coburn had played better
Wheels could retire, too -- I wouldn't rule that out. I really wouldn't - AllInForFlyers
I would rule out Lecavalier retiring. That's not going to happen.

Yup. The biggest question basically is do they move D men like Carlo or Schultz or do they make a big move and move out a guy like Coburn or Streit? |
