great points...now the big question.....
if that's the case, why would Anaheim trade him for myers? - Michael Pachla
I don't think they would. I know the source for this rumor is Lavoie but maybe it's a much bigger deal? Fowler for Myers + Stewart? Maybe even more?
Where did Lavoie mention this? In an article or on the radio/tv? |

How's Mantha doing? I know he was struggling early on...is he still considered untouchable? Would you be willing to include him in a deal for Myers? - rangerdanger94
Mantha is struggling due to the fact he missed camp and the beginning of the year with a fractured tibia. No way in hell I move a guy with Rick Nash potential for Myers. |

The Islanders aren't going to miss the playoffs. They will right the ship with or without Okposo. It would take a monumental collapse, and the only teams losing at the pace that would make that happen are Buffalo and Edmonton.
That being said, Buffalo shouldn't even be tempted to re-sign either Stafford or Stewart. For Stafford, a change of scenery would do both parties a world of good. Stewart is the classic case of a player uncharacteristically stepping up his game leading up to a new contract. The team that actually ends up getting fooled by that almost always realizes it was a monumental mistake way too late. |

just wondering...why do you think Holland's been inquiring about myers for nearly a year? - Michael Pachla
Because he's an NHL GM that could use a RH shot and is just checking in to see if the asking price is still astronomical. |

I am of the opinion that the Sabres will only be a championship team if they end up with a defenseman that ends up being better than Tyler Myers. However, Cam Fowler definitely isn't it. I want no part of the rumored deals. |

as well he should...conversely, if a team is interested in myers, tim murray should get the most he can for him...
if Detroit doesn't bite, so be it...but without larkin or mantha coming back...then the sabres keep him |

TM has three weeks to right size Stewart's contract. I would do it if we can get him at the right price.
That doesn't mean paying him for the last 5 weeks' production. It means paying him for his Career numbers. |

I don't think Mantha has Nash potential. I'm not sure of his style of play but Nash is a 1st overall talent and had like 8 30 goal seasons and 2 40 goal seasons. |

I'm on the keeping Myers in Buffalo train and I have been the last 2 years. If he gets dealt I want to see a top line winger coming back. I'm not a fan of the Ducks rumors.
If I'm TM Evander Kane is number one right now. Stewart and St Louis 1st and maybe a mid level prospect (Bailey, Baptiste perhaps).
Stafford and a 3rd to the Islanders for Griffin Reinhart
Enroth and a 2nd to the Rangers for a 1st...after Talbots game yesterday they need a goalie bad with the King being out almost a month. - Stripes77
Are we even going to have Stewart by the time Kane is tradable? Isn't he on IR right now until the end of the season? |

You can get plenty of younger, cheaper players that do what Stewart does. There is really no reason to sign a player to the long term deal that Stewart will most likely be looking for. If Stewart is willing to take three years or less on his deal, then I might be tempted, but he's going to be looking for longer than that. It's probably going to be the only long term deal of his career. I'd rather have some other team regret making it. |

Is there a rule against trading players on IR? If the Sabres are to deal for him, it's for next year. In fact, it helps the tank cause. |
