Better then apick IMO see what he does and if not, let him walk.

then you'd basically be giving stewart away for nothing. At least you can do something with the pick. Move up in the draft, trade for a roster player/

There was a point where he was the only one scoring. The one thing I can't stand what this team does, and they did it with Grigorenko, Reinhart, and Larsson, though to a lesser extent, is that they put him between two grinders with very little skill at all, and then say "see? He's not ready yet". It insults my intelligence to be honest.

He was scoring with the Sabres ? when did this happen ? He looks lazy to me

Then just keep Stewart, 1 pick will not make or break this team.

I didn't see a lazy player. I saw a player who looked unable to carry two players he had no business playing with in the first place.

There's a caveat here, though. He asked to be traded because he feels the Sabres don't really want any part of him. I'm not opposed to trading him, but I can't fault him for this either. The guy hasn't been put in the greatest position to perform, and in the short time he did perform, he was demoted with a couple guys that can't skate.

- buffalofan19

I did read that before, and I don't see where he asked to be traded. You can assume it might be what he's thinking, but I bet Murray will have a good discussion with him before his next move, whether it's to the Sabres or a different organization. He's frustrated and I don't blame him. His contract runs out and we'll know how Murray feels about him either by the deadline or the summer.

I just don't think Stewart's all that good and his hot streak isn't changing my mind. If they can't agree on a reasonable extension by 1 week before the deadline they should move him for the best possible return.

Like I said, I'm okay with trading him. However, let's be fair, they haven't put him in a position to succeed, at all.

Well I visit this site I'm almost a daily basis, this is the first time I've decided to post a comment. I want to say that I enjoy about 90% of what is on the site, the 10% I don't enjoy is the personal/mean/redundant post between two sides that have very strong opinions and neither side can see they're not going to convince the other of their review.

I am a lifelong Sabres/Bills/St. Bonaventure fan, who grew up in western New York and moved to Denver about nine years ago. I miss being as close to family and my local teams, but this winter is making me realize how much better winter is here compared to WNY.

A couple of proposed trades I have not seen mentioned but I would like to get people's opinion on.

1. Would you trade the Sabres 2016 first round pick along with the better of our late first round pick and our 2nd round pick to the Arizona Coyotes for their 2015 first? This would give them a much better chance at landing there homegrown superstar in next years draft, and would also allow them to increase the number of prospects in their farm system (something they need more than we do). If they say no, do we off both our late 1st in 2015?

2. Would you trade a late first this year to Edmonton for the right to potentially swap trade positions. This would mean that if Edmonton were to win the lottery (13.5% chance as of today), we would swap draft spots and get to draft #1 overall and Oilers draft #2. Thus we would have a 33.5% chance of drafting McDavid. The big gamble here is there is a 86.5% chance that we are giving up a late first round pick for nothing.

Interested in reading people's thoughts and if these are ridiculous trade ideas, take it easy on me.

And by the way, suppose to hit 70 for 3rd straight day here in Denver.

A little bit. He's not a star. He's never going to be one that can carry a line. He needs to play with guys that suit his skill set. The Sabres haven't afforded him that opportunity, which is the case with many on this team.

People keep saying that Spooner and Erikson don't fit the Bruins model, but isn't their model the same as TM's?

Also, not happy with the draft simulator this morning. Just ran it 10 tomes and Edmonton won it 5 times and Sabres 0!?!

I think the point is that this year's draft class is likely to be much better than next, so who cares as much about it next year

The thing is Arizona will want to win the lottery next year to get Auston Matthews and Buffalo will be ready to start winning. It's a chance you take like the Isles did. As the rankings stand today, we would go from a 20% chance to 32% chance, and in theory, a chance at 1 and 2.

So I don't mind the type of player that Stewart is, or Foligno for that matter, but I would not mind trading them to teams before the deadline to help our future better. I don't Foligno pushes hard enough consistently.

I think Stewart can fetch you a great deal and worst case gain him some playoff experience, where we can tell him we will have strong interest in him come free agency and potentially resign if that works for him (have to overpay someone! cause I dont see him wanting to take a pay cut next year).

If they can get a 1st or 2nd and prospect, I think we win that deal. Remember, this is still return from the Miller + Ott to STL deal. So that would give us even more players (along with William Carrier, a first-round draft pick in 2015 and a third-round pick in 2016 and Halak which the Sabres traded with a 3rd rounder for Neuvirth).

If the Sabres trade him (get good return like Moulson, 2 2nd rounders) and then resign for 2 years at $5M/year, that would be the move. Then use what you got for him to upgrade to one player in the draft, best player you can get.

We have to remember, most teams that would take on Stewart would have to move a contract (or would like to) meaning we may get another UFA back in the deal, which could be flipped too.

Yeah. I prefer the notion of picking up a nice player in the first round this year than picking up what will probably be someone as good as the yotes pick next year.

the lottery next year will be a lot harder to win next year teams could move back 5 spots etc

I'm 100% GM's will get pissed next year and complain . back to the old Style in 2017
