But you live in the now. What the other poster said should have been irrelevant to someone living only in the present - sbroads24
Oh of course. So I shouldn't reply when someone insults the past of the Islanders? I see. OK, I'll live in the now, one point out of the division lead . |

Rick Nash is a rare talent. Anthony Mantha is not. There is your difference. He scored a goal per game in juniors. Great so did Luke Adam. - sbroads24
Did you just compare Luke Adam to Mantha? |

It was 10 winning seasons in the past 30 years.
The Sabres and Islanders know a thing about bad seasons in recent history.
Neither side should be throwing mud. - dadeadhead
The thing is I'm not. Replying to insults but I'd say the islanders past is just a bit different than the Sabres. Not really a great analogy |

No he doesn't suck. Just when Myers was 19, he was scoring in the NHL, not struggling in the AHL. Just you know, providing some context as to why we don't think Mantha is anywhere near an over payment - sbroads24
Mantha is NOT struggling in the AHL, not even close.
It would be foolish to expect him to dominate AHL the same way he dominated juniors.

For all you know Mantha can be twice the player Rick Nash is. A player half of all Ranger fans wanted to buy out last season btw. You have about as much idea what kind of player Mantha will be as much as you do what your team would get for Myers in a trade. Little to no idea. |

How can you not talk about the past? Look at all those sick banners they have. How can any other fan base not be jealous?

He went on a month long goal drought in Grand Rapids. That's not struggling? |

Sam Reinhart is considered a better prospect than Mantha. I would not consider Sam Reinhart a "rare talent ".
Mantha is a great prospect. That's it at this point |

B00s, looking at your trade proposals, i feel like we get worse on defense, add nothing up front, pick up a late first and an early second, and add a top goalie prospect at a time when goalies values are going the way of running backs. i think murray would do enroth for gaunce but i think he passes on the other two. |

But at Myers 25, Detroit won't even give up that struggling minor league forward for him, even though he won that sparkly, shiney award 6 years ago. |

I suppose the idea there is it's a risk on both sides. Mantha could be twice the player Nash is and he could be half the player Nash is. Where as you know what you're getting with Myers.
I can see why either side would/wouldn't want to do it but i don't think it's as far fetched as some believe. |

He had a broken leg and missed 2+ months, including the training camp and exhibition season. He started playing the pro game without ANY time to adjust.
If you can't understand what kind of impact it might have on the 18 years old,
there is a problem

Yeah. People are always right about prospects and their development. Add into the fact that it's the Redwings a team that has been the best developers of young talent since I'm guessing probably before you were born. |

I don't think it's a huge stretch but I think maybe you guys will get a late first early second(maybe a contender acquired in a trade) and MAYBE a B level prospect. Anything more than that to me is an overpayment. |

James Neal scores 30 consistently. Is he one of the better power forwards in the NHL like Rick Nash??
So Mantha=Neal=Nash? All the same cause they can score 30? - sbroads24
Neal isnt a power forward |
