not true. the weather isn't identical all over the state either due to the mountain ranges, elevation changes etc. last year when i moved here it was much colder than it is now...never getting above 50 until late march or early april, but i was in santa fe and it's generally about 10 degrees cooler there than ABQ. it gets hot, but not like Arizona hot. i couldn't live there.
about 3 weeks ago we were regularly in the 20s at night and early morning...getting into the high 30's mid 40s. we're having a warm spell right now. it's a bit weird honestly. - hammarby31

That sounds awesome!
I'm a single Dad and when it snows and they call off of school when I have my kid, I have to figure out what happens when he doesn't have school.
Last winter, my kid spent 3 days in my office. He was bored to tears. At the time, my boss did not dig working from home (which makes him a dillhole, in my book).
This year, my bosses' boss kinda laid it down that working from home was fine when the weather sucked. About (frank)ing time. - johndewar
anti-work from home policies are (frank)ing stupid for a variety of reasons, especially with respect to the scenario you mentioned.
last winter was (frank)ing horrible. i couldn't get out of philly fast enough. |

The officiation was horrific today. Terribly one sided.
Mason was stretching during a stoppage before the penalty that became a 5 on 3, and pushed away from the boards, and seemed to grab at his knee, then immediately stepped off with McCrossin. - Jsaquella
An understatement!!
Several free arms around players waists not called, as well as the high stick on Giroux.
I noticed Mason motion to his knee as well with his glove.
Leads me to believe the injury is related to his last one. |

Not a STH so I can't comment on that part. I don't blame Comcast for looking for more involvement with the franchise. They do own a large portion of it after all. And not to mention also handle literally every single televised game we Flyers fans see, be it through CSN, NBCSN or NBC.
I still think that the vast failure of what Xfinity Live was supposed to be(shopping mall, hotels, movie theatre, restaurants etc) and what it turned into ( a glorified TGI Fridays) had a whole hell of a lot to do with Luukko's departure.
Remember this?
 - hereticpride
Good point, but without Luukko, this franchise does not get the Winter Classic in Philly or the draft. He brought the Frozen Four here.
He also expanded the base of arenas managed by Spectacor. The guy knows how to make money off of a building.
If that Xfinity Live (frank)ing thing didn't work out, I put that more on the city than I do on Peter Luukko.

You guys getting much snow in the mountains this year in NM?
It's been so warm here it's raining even up at high elevations in the N Cascades.
Worst ski season since like 1976 or something. - Marc D
not really, no. there's snow making of course...so enough for people to go...either in SF or Taos, but damn...these last couple of weeks of 60s and now low 70s...i'd have to imagine it sucks up there right now. |

hey, i never said mac was a bargain asset. just that that list, when examined a little deeper, really doesnt contain the greatest comparables - stayinthefnnet
It's hard to quantify, with RFAs usually getting less than UFAs. I have little doubt that MacDonald would have gotten similar cash on the open market, from somebody.
My issue is, that too often for my liking, the Flyers end up paying a premium for a serviceable depth defenseman.
If it was just MacDonald, it'd be one thing, but they're icing one of the most expensive defenses in the NHL, and at it's best it's mediocre. |

At my old job, I managed dudes working in India.
I told my boss that if I can manage people in India, I'm pretty sure I could manage it if they lived in King of Prussia.

Here comes Stolly the Goalie.
Food for thought,
The magic number is now 17. The Flyers cannot lose any more than 17 points over the remainder of the seaosn in order to have a 50% chance or greater of making the playoffs. That is a record of 19-7-3.
This would give us a 7% chance at the 7th seed, 42% chance at the 8th seed, and 45% chance at the 9th seed.
One additional win (20 in all) would boost the Flyers playoff chances to 64%.
Their current playoff probability is 6.3% |

i agree. such is the cost of having most of its members be signed via FA though. not really many ELCs, and you dont get the benefit of bargains that way very much.
i get what youre saying. you dont mind paying the premium for the top guys. but they really dont make it to FA anymore. so youre stuck paying for the going rate for the tertiary kind of guys.
once your prospects start trickling in, it should improve. |

so another knee tweak then?
I really wonder if he isn't trying to play through something more serious like a partially torn ligament in the knee at this point.
the medical info released to the media is very uh... unreliable |

Maybe he was trying to gut it out for the team?
I really think these things become systemic problems....you hurt one thing...you compensate...you hurt something else.
I think that's what wrong with Matt Read and likely, what's wrong with Steve Mason. |

It will. To be honest the probability of minimal or stagnant cap growth is a factor, too. There's 5 contracts I especially dislike, and I wonder if any can be moved. |

I'd guess. He's looked fine since his return. Before the initial knee injury, you could see Mason, in games, flexing the leg. I had not noticed that occurring in recent games.
But, the way he reacted...same leg, same manner in heading down the tunnel... |
