Not buying the "unrelated to previous injury" angle Hexy is selling. They need to be prudent with Mason. - Jsaquella
He looked completely fine for the past two weeks and then suddenly could barely stand up. I don't want to hear that it was from over use since he only played five games in 13 days. It's just very unfortunate. |

Agreed -- I wish the Little Finn well and I know the Flyers aren't making the playoffs, but I won't even lie: If the last thing he does in the NHL is help Coburn get his poop together, I would take that happily

Nice to see the coach FINALLY cut RJ Hamburglar's minutes. He only had 9 minutes of ice time. The 4th line had definitely outplayed 24 14 Zombie |

Please don't apply logic.
This was just another example of the inept Flyers medical staff rushing Mason back. |

It's like people don't know what injuries are. Lordy.
You don't need to be "overused" to reaggravate an injury. Nor does every reaggravation occur after being "rushed back". Nor do you need to reaggrevate the same injury as a result of another one.
Injuries WEAKEN YOUR BODY and cause you to compensate.
Remember when Mase tweaked his back? He probably walked funny for a few days after that. If he did, he may have a sore hip or shoulder depending on what his posture was like.
Remember when Mase hurt his knee? He probably walked funny for a few days after that, too. If he did, he may have a sore hip, hamstring, groin, or calf.
Mase is a professional goalie who certainly puts intense strain on his back, hip, and leg muscles on a daily basis.
It is CERTAINLY POSSIBLE that what's ailing Mason now is completely different from his last 2 bouts with the injury bug. It's also possible that- even though he felt ok and looked ok- he wasn't 100%. Even being 90% with something like a knee for a goalie can put you behind the 8-ball- you could reinjure something, or you could injure something new which was weakened while compensating.
I don't know what happened. No one knows what happened. So as a board, let's not split into parties and go down 2 days worth of arguing about Mason's use or the quality of the medical staff.
Mase thought he was fine. The doctors who have degrees in the field thought he was fine. He looked and felt fine. Then he got injured. It's unfortunate, and I think he should be shut down so he can get back to 100% so all of this doesn't snowball if it isn't already.

Stolarz needs to go back to Phantoms ASAP. It will stunt his development sitting on the bench night in, night out. If Zepp and Mason are out long term, then we need to sign a veteran FA. |

I don't even know how you get that done -- not just the $6 million hit, but the cost in assets
Chevaldayoff is gonna want to sell high, and it doesn't matter what we think of Kane's production. Someone is gonna pay |

He's been receiving regular treatment on the knee since the initial injury, It's entirely possible he's been playing through pain or re-aggravated it.

Instead, after addressing the media, Mason limped down the hallway toward the showers with a huge ice bag wrapped around his right knee. It was the same knee that he alluded earlier “desperate measures” — surgery, perhaps? — were pondered about while he was out.
“I think the organization did everything they could to make sure that long-term, they did what’s best for me,” Mason said.
But when pressed for more details on his vague answers, Mason froze.
“Talk to [general manager Ron Hextall] or [trainer] Jimmy McCrossin," Mason said. “I don’t want to comment more than that.”
That was after coming in cold against Arizona. Sure seems as if he returned at less than 100% |

I think it would command something along the lines of Coburn, B Schenn, Read, 1st maybe a 2nd + prospect instead of the 1st |
