It does, but you have to show some level of competence after.
The Phillies had the GM who ran the show retire, and the director of scouting/assistant GM who built the farm system leave because he got passed over. The new GM has basically driven the yacht into the beach.
Fans will give you time Afters championship, but if you don't give them hope, they will eventually bail. - Jsaquella
I hear you Jsaq. And you are right. But just speaking for myself, I would be willing to sacrifice at least 5-7 years of competent, competitive level play for that one Championship. |

I think people are annoyed because they saw this coming 3 years ago, but the Phillies didn't.
The saddest part about the team is that they don't even have the players in the organization yet that will be a part of the next winning team. Those players haven't even been drafted yet. Thats how far away they are. - PhillySportsGuy
I thought the pitcher(s) they drafted this year are valued pretty highly.
Also, I think that Hamels, if he stays (unlikely) could still be a top-3 pitcher for them whenever they right the ship.
But yes, it seems they have no position players ready to come up and be part of a winner. |

I said, in 2008, that Utley, Howard, and Rollins could stay and go 0-for-lifetime as Phillies for the rest of their careers and I'd be okay with that. Not happy with it, but okay with it because the happiness from 2008 was worth it. I stand by that statement to this day. - jmatchett383
And I can't argue with that because it brought something to the city that was so wanted. I think the Phillies failed to make changes but I also know they did what they could to bring a champioship to philly. And that made 2008 great |

This is true, but they're not directly related (to me).
All I want from the Flyers is 1 Cup before I die. If they give me that, they get a pass from me for forever. I'd prefer they continue to play well every year and win multiple Cups, but I'd be content with one. - jmatchett383
Speaking as someone who witnessed both Cups of the 70s, and with all due respect, I completely disagree with that sentiment. |

Nola is a guy with a high floor but low ceiling. Most people believe he's going to be a middle of the rotation guy.
Hamels needs to be dealt now. The longer they wait, the more they risk. |

You can disagree, but for me, it's a bucket list item. So, give me that, and I'll be okay (not necessarily happy, but satisfied) with the one. |

Ive been reading up on him and the rankings are all over the place. Anywhere from a top 15 pick to sometime in the second round.
Its a deeeep draft.

Well, that is interesting. Its nice to see this team still has some pride in the way they are battling and playing.

Um, why are they fighting in practice?
Maybe they both needed practice in how to get their gloves off. Sigh. |

Hard to say as I was far from being born when Philly went back to back, but I feel as though I would just like one cup win within my lifetime. I would even be partially satisified overall had they won in '97 despite my age at the time. 2010 would have been it |
