If Raffl is playing consistently on the top line, then, technically speaking, yes he is. Legitimately, no, he is not.

A player on his own merits, either is a top line player, or he's not. Who a player plays with, doesn't determine what a player is.

Typical hyperbole. I'd be good with paying Boychuk Bouwmeester cash, for sure.

I view Boychuck similar to Coburn. Capable of playing on a top pair as a compliment to a #1. On his own merits without the # 1, maybe not a top pair player. Coburn playing without that #1, on the Flyers and the fans want to trade him for 2nd round pick, and don't want tpo pay to re-sign him. Put Coburn on the Isles and he would be coveted. Stating that Boychuck plays top minutes on a top team ignores that the Isles aren't that good defensively. That's where the hyperbole comes in.

Hope Umberger didn't punch him in the "lower body."

No, that would be Crosby's thing.

Technically he's being used that way... but I don't believe he can keep it up beyond this nice 3-4 mos stretch he had going. Don't think he has the skating, sense and overall tool set to sustain it.

Kind of like Hartsy and his 37-goal year... you just knew he wasn't going to touch that the next few seasons.

I'd be more concerned with term than aav. I would pay more aav for less term. Even if Boychuk regresses a little, they have the young depth on defense to pick up the slack. He's been a solid player for a while. If he regresses, I doubt it will be in a huge way

Yeah, at least until Hamonic, de Haan and Leddy are able to carry the mail, and Donovan/Pulock/Reinhart start getting comfortable. Hickey's really becoming surprisingly good too, finally.

Many here completely under value you Coburn. If we traded Coburn for a second round pick to let's say the LA Kings, we'd basically be handing the Kings another Cup and the perfect defense partner for Drew Doughty, while we cross our fingers that the pick that we gained turns into an impact player.
