You can drop smiley faces all you want, but here's the reality: For $6 million per, the Jets are paying for one 30-goal season and a guy who has never reached 20 goals in any other year
That's right. 14 goals, 19, 30, 17, 19 and 10 -- for $6 million dollars
Laugh that off - AllInForFlyers
I'm laughing at your last comment made on the post, sensitive. I agree with you. If you read my comments, you'd know I'm against a trade of Schenn for Kane too. |

I agree with the overall point your making, but his cap hit is 5.25M. And it was at one point lower then that earlier in his career. I don't think he's played to that level lately, along with the character risks, and the cost to acquire him, I'd look in another direction. - MJL
5.25, 6, whatever, this guy is overpaid -- one season is a lockout year and he probably would've gotten 20, but he didn't, and he has been nondescript since the lockout
That cap hit can be spent elsewhere |

If Schenner finds even a semblance of consistency, he'll quickly cement himself within the unanimous core of this team. I'm one of those who believe he's already undervalued to an extent. - Giroux_Is_God
I agree. The only way I trade Schenn for Kane is if WPG is taking back Vinny or McD. Production is very similar for the 2 players but Schenn doesn't come with the added character and cap hit baggage.
The jets are the ones trying to pawn their dirty laundry onto someone else, the flyers shouldn't be the ones trying to sweeten this pot to make a trade happen. |

And he's not a (frank) up
We've already had to deal with one headache not too long ago and if another one comes along at the expense of brayden schenn so help me god I will march down broad to the the important people box at the Wells Fargo Center and push hexy over the railing. - Giroux_Is_God
I'm the first to point out Brayden Schenn's shortcomings.
And I'm a big Evander Kane fan.
But, why do we need to ship BSchenn that way, when he doesn't make much and, frankly, Winnipeg's GM is in no position to dictate terms, given the circumstances and Evander's contract?
If we can find a way to get EKane here at low cost, I'm in....but I'm not sure we need to just give them low cost talent in return, unless they take one of our unsavory contracts (I nominate either Vinny or AMac) going the other way. |

Exactly -- the kid might be great, but to this point, why should the Flyers take that risk?
They've passed on gutting the team for Shea Weber and Rick Nash. No need to overpay for Evander Kane, now

Jesus, why does everyone hate him?
Next everyone will want to resign MDZ for 5 years @ $3mill a yr.
And female dog that $5 mill a year would be too much for him as well.
Has anyone checked Matt Carle's salary recently? |

It's not AMac, personally.
It's his level of play as related to his contract. Maybe it's first year contract jitters or something, but he really hasn't played to the level of his contract.
There's no measure that says that AMac is worth what he gets paid right now. |

The Flyers are in cap hell and he is very overpaid for what he brings to the table. If he was being paid about 1.5mil less a year I bet people wouldn't have as much of an issue with him. |

That particular poster is a bit of a pot stirrer.
When I comment on his work, I'm more commenting on his pot stirring.
If you like #FancyStats, the PSQ (Pot Stirring Quotient) is strong with him.
Sometimes, he is actually quite funny. |

the red flags are alarming, but i really cant see him being moved cheaply.
i could see them asking a pretty penny at the draft, and as intriguing as it would be to add him, i just cant see it being worth the cost.
id love him on malkins wing. for the flyers, i do think it would really open up avenues to get creative with the top 6. granted, not necessarily the most pressing need with the team, but i think every possible option to get better should at least be explored and discussed. |

I get it, for the $ he gets people want 40 points, & solid D.
But I like his steadiness in the defensive zone, & I believe his turnovers are the least among our D men.
I know he had a bad penalty today, but that was hauling down the games best power forward.
Would I like to see his salary down a million? Sure, absolutely.
But I think he's [played very well, and MDZ has played great!

MDZ led them in ice time again today -- Berube may not love everything about this kid's game, but he sure isn't shy about playing the hell out of him when he's in the lineup

Yeah, I get it, but $1 & 1/5 mill a year less you say?
Oh man, we are in 2015, c'mon now.
Defensemen that play fairly high minutes, with low turnover rates for $3.5 mill you say?

They'll have their best negotiating position at the draft, no doubt.
But still....they've been put in a poor negotiating position all together. With Kane opting for surgery, they'd do well to pull trade discussion off the table unless someone blows them away.
Even then, though.....a guy with a perceived attitude problem coming off of surgery? Not something you want to hear about with a player you want to trade.
That said.....I'd take him on my team in a cocaine heartbeat. |

He's playing like a top unit defenseman, look at his physical play in the corners as well.
It also took Berube over 4 months to put Simmonds on Coot's line. |

yeah. malkin would make him very, very relevant.
and kane's two way game isnt atrocious. i think they would be able to get their 5 mil's worth out of him.
but the assets that would need to go out, i dont really think the pens could get it done.
id rather them go hard after a guy who can pivot the third line, with size. |
