How about Mark Stone, Matt Puempel and Ottawa's 2nd round pick in this year's draft.
Stone is a Winnipeg boy who looks really good this year in his rookie season. Puempel is a recent first round pick with upside. The second rounder wouldn't be that much out of the first round with Ottawa's record. (I don't see them trading the first rounder this year for that reason) - maaddmike
Its a fair offer. I think WPG pushes for the first rd pick. They hold all the power here and will have teams competing for his services. |

The other issue is, Ottawa can't keep trading their top prospects, they did for Ryan last year and then this, that would set them back another couple years. (in my opinion) |

Maybe if Stewart to Boston happens we should ask for Gregory Campbell as part of the return and sign him long term. |
|
|
|
This is not enough, especially the 2nd. They want a 1st, thinking top 20 or so. - Lilroot9
I can't see Ottawa moving a potential top 5 lottery pick. Maybe Stone, Peumpel and two 2nd round picks - their own and the Dallas' pick from the Spezza deal? |

Ottawa has a pretty good group of young forwards - Stone, Hoffman, Lazar and Pageau all rookies in the NHL, and Peumpel, Prince in the AHL along with Nick Paul from the Spezza trade who is still in junior. There won't be enough room on the roster for all of these younger guys. So they could afford to move a couple of them for a higher end guy that is hitting his prime. |

Just a play on all the favoritism it seemed the Bruins got by having him. I really don't think he would add anything to what we already have. |

I see what you are saying, I just think they want a top talent back and (2) 2nds is not that great. They need more (I wish they did not, but I think that is the case) of top talent and less bottom 6 as well as sooner than later players (the two you named seemed ok, although I am unfamiliar with them). |

We're in a position where the cap hit isn't too big an issue. And like i said i would buy low on him. If the price for him and kane are the same i'd rather kane. In fact i'd rather just add an extra asset and go after someone even better but i'll stick with these two for now. He's proven he can score at this level and a pretty good skater. If the price is right it could pay off big time. - Sabresfan-365
I think there will be a lot of teams in cap trouble forcing them to trade good players (like how the Isles got their guys for next to nothing) and we could look there instead of going after someone like Skinner. Canes and Skinner are similar to the Sabres and Myers. They don't have to trade him, have plenty of cap space and there is potential for each to become stars. |

Here's an honest question. Who would you rather trade for and which would take more to get? Kane or RoR? |

My guess is Winnipeg and Vancouver are dancing around an offer that includes Horvat, Kassian and a #1 for Kane. They may not be exactly at that point, but they are close. I still believe ( hope) Ottawa will be in the mix with an offer that could include Lazar, Lehner and a #2 pick.
Winnipeg has no interest in Dmen. They have probably the best young D in the league after Nashville. I think Buffalo has the pieces to get a deal done. But it will cost a lot more than most of the proposals being formulated on this thread. - spatso

I know he's having a down year and injury troubles but I would buy low on Skinner if he becomes available in the off season.
Edit: If the price for Kane is too high that is. I would try for Kane 1st though. - Sabresfan-365
why would you want skinner ? we have ennis |

I certainly wouldn't include Lazar in a deal. He is the ultimate character player. It would be too ironic to deal him for Evander Kane. |

How do we feel about Armia? I can see him being the prospect WPG wants more than a Grigorenko and Larsson etc...
He is 3 years younger than Kane but Kane is a proven scorer. Armia is not in the NHL level yet. Armia could be a perfect match to bring up with Grigs but also Kane would jump our rebuild quicker.
Ennis needs to stay as he is only Sabre who can produce at all. Stewart's value is low.
If I were the GM I would be trying to peddle Myers to Anaheim for Vatanen, Richie and a 1st
then E. Kane for Stafford, Armia and a 1st
then Stewart to Boston for Ryan Spooner and a pick
Neuvirth to anyone so we can bring up Hackett |

Aside from the whole UFA thing I'd take ROR. That said, it will take more to get Kane.

I would do all of those deals (which means to me the other team won't, haha).
This is the addition the Sabres need to be good sooner than later. |

Does anyone bother reading past the 1st few words anymore? If you can buy low on a former 2 time 30 goal scorer who is still 22 years old (something ennis has yet to do by the way) then personally i would go for it. |
