duh man niemi is commin hear didnt u no - DynamicThreads
I'd be Ok with that i guess
But I'd prefer we made a deal for a young NHL goalie who looks like he could be a future franchise goalie
Allen & Gibson come to mind
Or if Toronto &/or Jersey decides to tear it all down, Bernier or Schneider would be guys I'd target |

Tough to say for sure, but the overwhelming opinion is that there's little chance he gets his asking price...
Like I've said all along, Kane is ours if we want him.
Having those 2 late 1sts gives us a huge advantage when trying to land him.
The only other team that has one is Edmonton, so unless their offer is Yakupov + the Pitt 1st (and the Jets really like Yakupov), I don't think the Oilers can make an offer that might top what we can
2 schools of thought on whether or not they'd want Grigorenko or Yakupov...
1) they wouldn't want to take a chance on another Russian with what happened with Burmistrov
2) getting Yakupov or Grigorenko might help bring the talented Burmistrov back into the picture
Btw, I wouldn't mind trading for the rights to Burmistrov - jdfitz77
I don't think the "Russian factor" is as big a threat anymore, with the economic crisis over there. The cap is only at what would be the equivalent of $17 million US dollars.

You're probably right...
But they got burned bad by Burmistrov. It wouldn't surprise me if they had misgivings about other Russians bc of him
It'll be interesting to see if some of the better Russians try to make their way back yo the NHL now |

Yeah, that could get interesting.
Buffalo surely will have the cap room. |

The only way Schneider parts ways with the Devils is if Lou steps aside and his replacement has gingerphobia. |

he is an over-achiever
if playing a 2 goalie system, I'd kick the tires

I'd kick the tires, too.
He's had great numbers every year since he turned pro. Good GAA, SVP, and has posted a good number of shutouts. And he's 6'4".
Perhaps all he needs is a chance to not play behind anyone named Quick....or perhaps that's why his numbers are so good.
Glad I'm not the GM. |

I wouldn't say it's likely...
But if Lou were to decide tobtear it down in NJ, then I could see him trading off his valuable assets like we did with Vanek, Miller, Pommer, etc
I think he needs to realize that NJ is becoming a Calgary- like situation from a few years back. They need to stop fighting to finish 7-10 in the conference.... Otherwise, they'll be doomed to mediocrity |

So then he'd be eligible to come back to the NHL
He's a pretty decent two-way player that can be explosive offensively.
Idk what it'd take to get him, but I like him as a player quite a bit |

Here's an honest question. Who would you rather trade for and which would take more to get? Kane or RoR? - adambuffalo
Definitely Kane
He provides a dynamic to him O'Reilly doesn't
Also, I think O'Reilly wants to go to UFA, so I definitely would not trade for him
I think they'll both go for roughly the same package |

The problem with ROR is that he is ideally a great second line player that wants to be paid like a first line player. |

Wasn't sure how the playoffs went . checked the rules and top 128 from each (STH and Non STH) make it. I'm good at 99

07/08 Blackhawks. Kane and Toews were both rookies. Went from picking 1st overall to a respectable 40-34-8. They picked 11th.
07/08 Penguins went from picking 2nd in June to losing in the Stanley cup finals.
It would not shock me if they add E Kane, McEichel, Reinhart, and Gringo(as he has to be up here) into the lineup and you get something that resembles 07/08 Hawks. - dadeadhead
Woah woah...why does he HAVE to be up??

Myers isn't going unless it is for a haul.
It isn't just Kane. McEichel are those rare breed of talent that comes along and just wow's you. Add Reinhart who is no slouch, the defense gets one more year older and wiser, and then sprinkle in E Kane. I'm not saying playoffs but something respectable to what the Hawks looked like in 07/08 (they had 88 points). This team will not be picking top 5 next year. - dadeadhead
Granted, it was a different time, but in 2005, coming out of the lockout, the Penguins loaded up after they drafted Crosby. They signed Recchi, Palffy, Gonchar, and Leclair. Two of those guys ended up retiring shortly after because they were over the hill, but just because Murray "loads up" doesn't make it a guarantee that they contend for the postseason. |

Because he would have to clear waivers to go to Roch. |

1) The team is completely awful right now
2) We have a great shot at getting a very, very good player in the draft
3) Some of the very good players from Rochester will be here
4) Uncle Terry is going to make at least a few moves this summer
Therefore, the team will be markedly better next year. Playoff contenders? Maybe, maybe not. Way too early to say. |
