if the sabres finish 29th, they are assured nothing
they are 4 points behind the oilers, not 14
do you really want to assume a behind the door "lottery" is going to make sure we get a top 2 pick if we finish 29th? - homiedclown
If they make this trade. They take a guy off the roster who produces (Stew/staff)
The other will be moved for a pick or prospect.
One of the goalies will be moved. Neither is playing great.
They are going to take away most of the production and use Matt Ellis types as fillar for the rest of the year.

My Kane deal based on what I heard before Bob McKenzie and Dreger's tweets was: Kane for STL/NYI 1st, Armia and Stewart/Stafford
Reasons for this was the chatter in Sabres meetings obviously but if they had Myers this whole thing gets changed. I hope they stick close to the above parameters cause everyone can be comfortable with that I would think |

I am not really that sold on Grigorenko nor Armia... neither can produce for long periods of time int eh AHL and neither can seem to stay healthy... they both are 1 sided as well.
I'd trade either to get a tough and gritty two way player like Kane who is a legit top line scoring winger to play along side a franchise guy like we should get in the draft. - JVince11
I don't think either of these points are true. Both of their games are trending towards efficient two way play, according to Cassidy. They're both leading the Amerks in ppg, and one's a rookie and the other might as well be, played half a season and didn't pick his game up till late last season. As far as staying healthy, Armia seems to have issues. I trust both of them for their offensive skills though. |

that's a trade I would consider
gringo, armia, staff and a second for kane and their first - homiedclown
I was thinking we were under paying the whole time and then you put Kane AND THEIR 1st... Chevy would be nuts...
I'd bet Foligno or Stewart (gritty guy) plus a top scoring winger prospect would have to be included. |

Very true. I was just talking about Patrick kane on our thread yesterday and how some posters on our thread would be unwilling to take a chance on Patrick kane because he was a huge partier when all that stuff was circulating . I wouldn't even have thought twice about it. There's a world of difference between the two Kanes though. Different players. Patrick may have the best pair of hands I've seen in my life. Even when he was partying it up. - Cptmjl
Chicago pays for Kane to have a guy keep him out of trouble. So basically unless another team is willing to do that, it could be a more risky move.
Not that it matters. I think when all is said and done Kane plays almost his entire career in Chicago. The only way I see him not being there is if he opts to not resign there when he's about done in the league and somehow ends up in Buffalo for a year or two. He's one of the few guys in this day and age that will probably play his entire career for one team. |

I agree - people are getting way too comfortable. Almost 30 games left - that is a lot. - Slump Buster
I think we are going to finish 30, and I am sure 100%.
There is NO WAY the management will ruin the chance to get 1st or 2nd pick!

Yet this team that had 36 shots on goal last night but could only score 1 goal...
I might be a little worried but not nearly as worried as you are |

The least played up aspect of the trade coming from Winnipeg is their 1st round pick.
That could be, and yes I stress COULD BE a lottery pick.
Changing the St Lous 1st for that potential is something you do all day every day and I understand full well that there are many more aspects of this potential trade. |

Moving multiple pieces to get Kane would also basically guarantee Sabres get either McDavid or Eichel, a perfect playmate for Kane.

Both are in their first full season in the AHL (though Armia did play I think 57 games last year).
Armia: longest drought this season: 3 games (twice, 2 games twice)
Grigorenko: 4 games (once, 3 games once, 2 games twice)
they have missed a combined 28 game of the 98 games they could have played in (total, 49 games for Rochester so far). I'm not too sold on any pattern of fragility (yet) |

Myers, Stafford, Armia, Lemieux for Kane and Bogosian is an overpayment. Maybe they could take Lemieux out of the deal and add Stewart instead of Stafford.
Weird trade if it involves both Lemieux and Armia. Wing is not a deep area in this organization. |

if murray overpays, and the team does not get a top 2 pick at the draft it's a big time rookie gm mistake - homiedclown
I am not sure how you think we are getting better after any trade. Because our team problem is the team is HORRIBLE, not 1 player, not 2 players, like 10-12 players are not playing well at all this season and the good young players make mistakes (Zadorov has like 10pts recently, but benched like 4 times) |

Ya know guys, this team has a much better record when Myers plays. When I mean much better, we lose less often. Historically. |

1) I don't get why we are talking about Hall.
2) I don't think trading Armia and Lemieux is overpayment at all. Five years from now it might be, or five years from now Winipeg could wish that they got proven players back. - Slump Buster
Could be sooner, Kane is only signed for 3 more seasons and is now out the remainder of this season for shoulder surgery. |

we are 4 points behind the oilers
if we catch the oilers we assume nothing other then at least #3
it's simple math
nothing more
nothing less

I dare say that the AHL is actually a more physical league than the NHL as well. Those games are TOUGH. Guys get hammered into the boards with more more regularity in the A than they do in the NHL. Or at least I think so... |

Yep, I've seen you and others post it a bunch recently about the physicality and the league being won on the shoulders of veterans moreso than the talented youngsters that a minor league system is supposed to be developing.
Hell, look at Rochester. Leading scorers for this team have trended towards non-NHL guys for a while. |

When I posted a couple days ago in this blog that " progress is being made " towards trading for Kane, the deal didn't have Myers or Lemieux in it. Seems like a lot IMO. |
