Disappointed in your third line center because he only has 11 goals in 53 games? Trade him for a guy who's never scored more than 11 goals in a season in his career.

Brilliant.

No, more like disappointed in my center who can't generate anything himself. He rides coattails and still produces at a lower rate. I'd rather have someone who is a better overall player at a better value. That move allows you space for another guy like Bergenheim. Bergy+Winnik >Sutter

What is Sutter worth then...monetarily...2M?

Sutter is a scapegoat

- icedog97

Sutter's a big part of the problem with the bottom 6. He's invisible more often than not, and his line does little to aid in the team's victory. Downie-Sutter-Spaling/Bennett have their moments of decent play, and sometimes even score goals. But it's not like they take over a game when Sid and Malkin are kept in check. Staal-Cooke-Kennedy had quite a few games where they took off while a team's focus was on the top two lines. This team does not have that. It hasn't for a few seasons now.

Mainly due to Staal. 6'5 top 6 center playing in a bottom 9 role. We were extremely spoiled when we had the 3 headed monster. We will not have that opportunity again unless we strike gold in the draft, which will be next year most likely as we only have 1 top 90 pick this year.

Spot on. When nearly a third of your team's salary cap allotment in Malkin and Crosby is significantly under-producing compared to their career output and disappear for weeks at a time, that has to be addressed, or the team is going nowhere..

Ha yeah I would say so, 6 months is nuts though; it was far less offensive than some of his past posts.

I maybe bias because he is my cousin, but 6 months is a bit much.

Agreed. But, Scuderi was brought here to be a top pairing dman for Letang. At his hit, that would have been a steal. He is now a depth dman, he plays good as well. Yeah, he's over payed by about 1 million or so. Sutter same situation of being overpayed by 1-1.5. Spaling should be a 1 million hit. That's around 3-4 million we should have free. That could have went towards 2 bottom 6's or one larger top 6/bottom 6 tweener.
- znagle

You should look around the league at each teams bad cap hits and then you might realize the pens are lucky to overpay guys by a couple hundred thousand than 2-3 million each.

Oh no! Sutter is getting a million more than he should!! Loui eriksson; Chris Stewart; mason Raymond; semin; Horton; Weiss; pouliot; fleischmann; too many more to list

Brandon Sutter is a 1st line name earning a 2nd line salary as a 3rd line center with 4th line results.

I don't know if Sutter is entitled. But I am not going to stop my crusade against Brandon Sutter until he is off the roster.

Exactly. If they are playing the third line and producing like a second line center then they ARE NOT a 3rd line center and will be paid accordingly (ie: Staal).

Lots of new posters today, welcome to the place where urine filled balloons fly, mullets waive, and sheep herd all at the same time we talk about hockey. Sometimes....

Considering he added nothing to the conversations other than his sick obsession with RW I would say it's worth it. I don't come on here to read someone's immature rantings about a blogger with annoying childish pictures that a five year old would find funny.

I don't see anything changing this year. Maybe next? Kind of tired of SOS. Believe me, I'm still a fan but the lack of progress on the bottom six is more than annoying. It makes the Pens organization look like a clown car.

Don't forget Semin and Brian Campbell. Seriously everyone freaks out about how much "over payed" they are. On open market, they would all make that/more at the time of signing. Luckily we aren't stuck with a true turd.. cough cough Mike Richards. Blows my mind that some here actually wanted Richards.

Yup, he ended up pricing himself out of town. That's what happens when we actually draft players... Home grown talent it needed for any team, even more so with our team.

I actually think that its right on the money, although I wouldn't put him on my 4th line; give me Lappy any day of the week.
- nbartley9

The Sutter name is about fundamental play, tight checking, and timely scoring. Not glitzy point totals.

Sutter isn't being paid 2nd line money, unless he got a raise to 5 or 6 mil a year.

And he's far outproducing any 4th line center in the league.

So I take it back, one thing was right - Sutter plays on the 3rd line.

And yet Staal was still chided non-stop because he wasn't producing enough.
