4 goals and 16 assists, a +12 on a team that is -12 on the season. How is he worse?
He kills penalties and plays a more physical game. He is a better center for this team than Sutter and has a better cap hit.

- usethe1-2-2

4 goals. He'd be a better 4th line center than Lapierre, which is probably why Rutherford apparently tried to get him first. That I agree with.

But decrying the scoring depth on the team and then suggesting that a guy with 4 goals on the year, never more than 11 in his career is somehow the answer to that is asinine.

Adams and Sill will be watching from the press box pretty soon, Comeau and whoever takes Bennett's spot will have a very nice trickle down effect for our 4th line, Downie-Lapps-Spaling is just as good if not better than M-C-C
- nbartley9

I don't think Lapierre is even close to Czikas.

Do you really believe that? How has Lapierre been?
- Cptmjl

Yeah I do, Downie has been the life blood of our team this year, a million times better than Ive ever expected. Lappy has been ok so far you can tell he is still feeling things out, when he gets rolling its going to be great for our 4th line.

Now I believe ya, I think maybe. I don't recall Killian having antipathy in his vocabulary here.
- Topshelf Mountain

Wonder what Killian's first name is. That whole jfkst1 is how robert morris(possibly other schools) assigned email addresses. At RMU, it was your initials, st(for student), then # to distinguish between how many other students with active school email had those initials. If his first name is Jeff, James, etc; Id say likelihood is high. Other option is John F. Kennedy pulled a Lazarus to post on hockeybuzz. I know Canadian used to check with IP addresses--think he caught him once before.

It's not like Clutterbuck or Czikas are goal scoring machines. 9 goals between them on the year. But they hit and pester and make life hard for the opposing team. I could care less about shot differential when judging the 4th line...that tells a small sliver of the story. Do they make it hard on the other team, and especially on the other defensemen?

The 2009 Cup team made things hard on opposing defensemen. I want that back.

That's why I feel like the 4th line has shown signs of life lately.

If you are trading Malkin and Letang to improve your third and fourth lines, you are doing it wrong.

Especially when those lines could be easily improved through free agency. Especially that fourth line.

Also I just want to point out that the Islanders 3rd and 4th lines make the Penguins look terrible. The Martin-Czikas-Clutterbuck line makes the Adams-Lapierre-Sill line look like a beer league unit.

- Ben37

Yup. Look at the examples this year... Comeau and Downy make peanuts but have been very good contributors.

I honestly don't know how anybody can watch Sutter every night and think he's worth his salary (or anything close). He gets physically dominated in every zone. Fancy stats or eye test.....whatever you prefer, he blows.

Lappy is going to get better for us, I honestly look at him and Czikas as a wash, the only place that I feel like that line would be better than ours, is Clutterbuck; but that's not all the time sometimes I am pretty impressed with Spaling other times ehhh not so much.

Bottom line is Sill and Adams suck rabbit turds.

Killian lives in DC, and his name is Brian. I just txted him, its not him. If it is he is a very good liar.

Casey is an excellent two way player. He is exactly who you want out there up by a goal in the last minute. He's not going to wow anyone with his offensive skills for the most part but he'll score some really timely goals when they matter.

Well this is the problem having a blogger that used to be a cocky poster, it just doesn't work; all this crap stems from when he was a poster.

Holier than thou attitude gets old quick.

You're talking out your ass. Ryan doesn't have the ability to ban people, I do. Your cousin/friend got ANOTHER significant ban because he came back from his last one acting the same, attacking Ryan while not contributing to the forum otherwise.

When he learns to act like an adult he'll find that he is welcome to stay.

Lots of you have been overstepping the line in regards to bashing Ryan , lucky for you i can't stand coming here anymore so I don't see it or a lot more bans would have been handed out for similar infractions.

If you need a refresher, here it is. Study it if you have to.

Disagree with his feelings on Fleury or Sutter- fine. Dig up pictures and make fun of his appearance- not fine.

It's really not that hard.

Yes he is. The entire line is nails. I'd take any of the 3 over anyone in our bottom 6.

Lapierre is trash. I'm just surprised he hasn't been suspended yet.

Asinine is dismissing all of the evidence that shows Sutter is a coattail riding underachiever with a good shot. He can't generate squat on his own unless it is on the breakaway. He is a useless third line center when Sid and Geno are your top two. Winnik is a much better fit and I would take him, his contract, and his 20 points over Sutter and his contract, and his 20 points.
Using one stat in a vacuum is nice, but production is a team game and Sutter doesn't play it that way.

I know some on here weren't high on Goc but I was surprised by that trade. Lapierre has been a minus player for I think 5 yrs now all on competitive teams and of course his past tangressions made it seem like a weird trade to me. Has Lap done anything to warrant a suspension yet?

I have a feeling based on his small track record that Chris Neil will be first.

Whose coattails is he exactly riding? Downie? Bennett? Arcobello? Who? How many of Sutter's 11 goals this year have been unassisted?

Sutter is what he is. A fundamentally sound defensive center who is great defensively against speed and skill and slightly less effective defensively against size. He's a deluxe penalty killer. He scores timely and clutch goals. He's not a gifted playmaker, and he's not a guy who is going to knock people off of pucks.

Once again, how exactly does Winnik solve the supposed complementary scoring problem when he doesn't score?!?

Possibly, still think he really wants Tlusty, though. JR is really big on reclamation projects and fiercely loyal to the ones that pan-out.

Gotta lob a urine balloon your way on this one Barts...

Just don't agree with that at all.

That line will absolutely dominate the Pens if we have a Pens/Isles playoff series. Book it.

Martin mauled the Pens in the payoff series a few years ago. Hit everything in sight. SHowed some skill. Perfect 4th line player.

Only a matter of time I guess. He'll probably wait for the playoffs. It won't be too much of a loss from the line up for you guys if he can remove a star from the opposing team.
