The mindset that they have, the bunker mentality, IS ingrained. They could save themselves a lot of grief if the they didn't treat these things like Nixon treated secretaries talking to reporters. - Jsaquella
Are you implying that you know something about Nixon's secretaries? I don't want to read a novel around that one line and be wrong... |

If Grossman is the Patron Saint then Hal Gil must be the Pope of slow Dman who lack skill - 3flyerkids
But come on, he played REALLY WELL for like 2 games late in the season when everyone else was gassed and he was fresh...we should have signed him to an 80-year extension. |

What are we looking at as far as goaltenders for the upcoming draft in Rounds 3 or 4? |

The Flyers should just bite the inevitable bullet and draft hammarby in the 5th round. |

We should be skeptical...for (frank)s sake the GM came out yesterday and determined himself it had nothing to do with the previous injury without so much as an MRI. I like Hextall...but flyers always gonna flyer - Just5
There's currently a player that's one free clot in the blood stream away from a stroke being fast-tracked back to the ice... if the team and the player are convinced they want to do something (stupid), how exactly is a doctor going to stop it from happening? |

Not sure about that deep. There's a handful of guys like Felix Sanstrom, Denis Godla, Sam Montembeault & Daniel Vladar who might fall in that area, unless they get a run on goalies, like last draft.
The top ones are Mackenzie Blackwood, Ilya Samsonov and Callum Booth all could be gone by the 3rd |

Mackenzie Blackwood, I like that name, we should grab him. Also, Daniel Vladar is pretty close to Darth Vader, so that would be a good one, too. |

He's usually very angry from one post on HB to his next post on HB.
Ohhhhhhh..... you meant on the ice.... ummm... he's probably pretty angry between those posts too, like Hextall with a yarmulke. |

Thanks -- I'm totally fine with Stolarz as a prospect, but what Mason's injury has really done is remind us all that the Flyers need to get another prospect in there quickly.
It wouldn't necessarily kill them to bring in another 25-28 year old, either

If Zepp is returning soon, I'd use him and let Stolarz and Ouellet handle the AHL load. If Zepp is out for a bit himself, look at getting a guy like Budaj or Leighton for cheap to split time with Emery while Mason is out. |

RE: Evander Kane speculation
According to Lawless there are two camps in the bidding process, teams in the playoffs and those out of the picture, and the price Cheveldayoff's asking for is said to be "a young, NHL player, a grade-A prospect and a first-round pick."
Young player, Grade-A prospect AND pick?
I swear, I don't get it. I just don't get it -- yeah, you can ask for whatever you want, but does anybody believe he's getting that?
I would laugh at that. I would try to be respectful, but if he was really serious, I'd ask him which sub-20-goal season I should watch to tell myself I should pay 40-goal prices |

Enjoy repairing the damage done in the locker room, Chevy.
I figured that'd be the asking price. Not willing to even entertain that |

IMO, just sign one of the more sought-after college UFA goalies this summer or trade for another team's unpolished kid. Probability of success for goalie picks is so low... I'd rather they take skaters in the top-4 rounds. |

Has any of the college kids panned out, for anybody, though?
I would love to take skaters, too, but I think they might really need to inject a real prospect -- maybe even two -- into their system.
Mason's certainly not old, but he's just one man. Him getting hurt really shows that they need to seriously look at this -- Rob Zepp is a nice story, but that can't be what we're going to war with simply because they have no other options |

I know prices come down, blah blah blah, but I am honestly sitting here looking at that possible ask with my mind blown
I don't even know how you have the sack to ask for two of those pieces, let alone three

Well, the bottom line is that Mason is likely out for awhile and if Panaccio's report is accurate, he's probably not coming back before the deadline.
Whether or not we agree on the handling of the situation, there's plenty of past instances of the Flyers mis-handling injuries. It's not exactly unfair to be a bit skeptical of their process in this case.
That said, there's also no reason to assume that by sitting Mason or even reducing his workload would have prevented this injury. Just because some feel the Flyers should have been more prudent isn't a reason to have a 35 page pissing match - Jsaquella
poop, I was late to the pissing contest! |
