Has any of the college kids panned out, for anybody, though?
I would love to take skaters, too, but I think they might really need to inject a real prospect -- maybe even two -- into their system.
Mason's certainly not old, but he's just one man. Him getting hurt really shows that they need to seriously look at this -- Rob Zepp is a nice story, but that can't be what we're going to war with simply because they have no other options - AllInForFlyers
Hutton, Talbot, Scrivens were NCAA UFA's. Martin Jones was undrafted out of the Dub.
Lot of guys from Europe that were undrafted too... Hiller, Niemi, Backstrom, Bob, Svedberg, Raanta, etc.
It's just impossible to tell anything about an 18-yo goalie. The read you have on them at 21+ is just so much more accurate. |

Patrick Roy was traded for Jocelyn Thibault, Martin Rucinsky and Andrei Kovalenko.
And the Canadiens added Mike Keane!
There were no picks involved! One of the greatest players ever was moved for a two decent NHLers and a former first-round pick in Thibault.
That's it! That's all you get for one of the greatest players to ever play!
You don't get more for a guy who has hit 20 goals once in five seasons! |

RE: Evander Kane speculation
According to Lawless there are two camps in the bidding process, teams in the playoffs and those out of the picture, and the price Cheveldayoff's asking for is said to be "a young, NHL player, a grade-A prospect and a first-round pick."
Young player, Grade-A prospect AND pick?
I swear, I don't get it. I just don't get it -- yeah, you can ask for whatever you want, but does anybody believe he's getting that?
I would laugh at that. I would try to be respectful, but if he was really serious, I'd ask him which sub-20-goal season I should watch to tell myself I should pay 40-goal prices - AllInForFlyers
I can't imagine he's going to turn that trick. Off the jump you're probably giving him two players better than Kane, possibly three with the pick. |

They act like Kane is a star player because they have no one else that fits that bill up front. He's a very good complimentary player but no more. And his off the ice issues... There's no way you consider this guy a core player.
For what Chevy wants I'll go to EDM and fork that over for Eberle.

What are we looking at as far as goaltenders for the upcoming draft in Rounds 3 or 4? - AllInForFlyers
Don't know about specific rounds but here are some

I guarantee he will get more than the equivalent that is Luke Schenn. (jvr trade)

That's what I'm trying to say, clumsily -- if I'm giving that much poop away, I'm not getting a guy who can't score 20 goals while getting 19 minutes of TOI! |

Saw him the other night, he wasn't bad but that's one of my own viewings on him, with that trade it didn't help. |

I know prices come down, blah blah blah, but I am honestly sitting here looking at that possible ask with my mind blown
I don't even know how you have the sack to ask for two of those pieces, let alone three - AllInForFlyers
yeah. i think a first should be in there. and then another piece. but realistically, that other piece shouldnt have to be too immense. |

There's currently a player that's one free clot in the blood stream away from a stroke being fast-tracked back to the ice... if the team and the player are convinced they want to do something (stupid), how exactly is a doctor going to stop it from happening? - Tomahawk
Quite simply, a player can't play if he doesn't receive medical clearance. This is exactly the problem. The perception that the Flyers are going to allow a player to play, if the possibility of Timonen suffering a stroke from a blood clot was that high. The blood clots were discovered back in the Summer of 14. It's now February of 2015. He's being fast-tracked back to the ice all right.

people are suckers for potential.
i get it, to an extent. but at some point, potential cant be sold for 1.50 on the dollar of real results. |

brandon sutter
brian dumolin
8th overall pick.
that for a guy who had already rejected an extension in which pretty much everyone knew he was going to either carolina or new york.
not that the package is a staggering, lindros esque kings ransom, but thats more to sutter not really being in my good graces at the moment.
pouliot is still a highly regarded prospect, but ill always resent him a tad for not being forsberg haha |

Enjoy repairing the damage done in the locker room, Chevy.
I figured that'd be the asking price. Not willing to even entertain that - Jsaquella
I can see them getting two of the three in the end, but not a player, a prospect, and a first round pick. |

So a third-liner, a mid-tier prospect, and a high pick.
Now, seriously: Staal is a better player than Kane, right? I haven't lost my mind, have I? |
