Was there any indication at all in the 65 minutes + 7 shootout rounds Mason played against the Islanders that he looked gimpy or in distress?
If not, it's hard for me to fault the team for starting him again three days later against Washington. - Feanor
I'm simply looking at the information available to render an opinion.
You have a guy with two injuries in quick succession.
When he returned from the second injury, he said that "more drastic" measures were considered but they opted for trying to treat it and go the less drastic route. He ended up getting re-injured a couple weeks later.
I simply advocate being more cautious in his use. It's not really about blame, I just would have preferred a lighter workload given his situation. |

@tpanotchCSN: SOURCE tells me that Mason will undergo an arthroscopic procedure on right knee to determine cause of pain and lockup/ story coming
...and we've arrived at "more drastic" apparently |

Well, at least it's only a "procedure" and not "surgery." Dodged a bullet there.
This post by panotch, I can assure you, is fictional. We all know Mason was absolutely fine and had there was no reason to keep him out of games longer than they did, so this would seem to be an overreaction. |

Love how they kept denying the injury wasn't tied to previous injuries when they don't know what is wrong with him.
I seriously don't understand how this medical staff is still employed by the flyers. I just pray to God Timonen doesn't drop dead on the ice. |

Even though he had knee issues earlier, I was thinking a tweaked back all the way. Like you said, get at this now instead of trying to save a virtually unsavable season. Who knows, someone could step up. Is Leighton available? I hear he has gotten much better at not lifting his stick just as shots arrive. |

As much as some people are saying this is all related so reoccuring, which logically it certainly could be, we dont have enough information to say that for sure.
I hate this lower body, upper body BS.

You won't find another medical staff in the league who would have shut Mason down for the season/immediately cut his knee open because of the injury he suffered against Boston. Treating it with weeks of rest & rehab was the prudent thing to do.
But certain Flyers fans want to blame every injury on the medical staff. |

they do obfuscate to the media, which is easy to understand, but to some it makes them seem like they don't know what they are doing at times |

They could give him a lower number. There are plenty available.
Edit: I mean seriously there are like 70 numbers to choose from. - NickTheKid87
I'm more interested in giving Laughton his real number. Stolarz won't need one for 5 years. |

The number laughton is wearing was on his practice jersey in training camp and he just decided to keep the number. So #49 was Scotty's choice.
