I believe (hope) that way of thinking ended after the Clarke/Lindros feud. |

@collin: hard to gain ground w/ 3 pt games: RT @frank_seravalli: Since Jan. 1, #Flyers have gone 9-5-1 and lost ground (one point) in the standings. - Jsaquella
They need to try harder. Trade that 1st rounder to give them a legit chance to squeak into the playoffs. Short-term satisfaction: It's worth it! |

One point that I think needs to be made, just as you have final say what happens when you visit your Doctor, so does a player. If a player is given an option of rest and rehab, or surgery, the team can certainly try and influence that player, and tell him what they think the best way to go, but ultimately, what happens is up to the player.
Not saying this is the case with the Mason situation, but just something to consider. - MJL
With contracts, teams have a lot of say in what players can and can't do. If the team wanted him to get surgery, felt it absolutely necessary, I imagine they would simply say he isn't playing until it gets done. |

Does suck for Mason especially because he has been great but..... It doesn't suck that we could get into that lottery |

Because it's really a non-issue knowing he'll eventually end up wearing #30 to honor Breeze, his boyhood idol. |

They weren't forced but the team should have been proactive in shutting them down for a while. It seems like they never take a precautionary approach to any injury - PhillySportsGuy
I guess you missed them sitting Laughton for three weeks until he was 100% fine. |

I don't believe the Flyers would let what a player says trump a medical recommendation from team Doctors. |

Doing so would probably open the Flyers up to all sorts of legal liability. |

just wait he's still concussed - 2Real
The sound of Niskanen's knuckles shattering while punching his helmet reverberated off of the rafters, hit a bag of porcorn whose kernels then dampened the frequency. This modulated signal then traveled in reverse but with a slight shift due to frequency change and ended up in a direct path with Laughton's right ear, which has given him an extreme case of vertigo. |

Bill Meltzer: Meltzer's Musings: Goalies, LeClair/Desjardins Trade, Goals for Giving - bmeltzer
This trade in my mind will forever be the greatest trade in Flyers history or at least up there to my memory. This trade lingered with excitement in a lot of different ways. In Desjardins we got a number defenseman and in LeClair we had a 50 goal scorer and the perfect compliment to Eric Lindros all at the price of Mark Recchi. The trade lingered further with excitement when we traded Dainius Zubrus for Recchi later, making us even more dangerous. |
