Was thinking about the Dale Weise deal after a montreal guy came into here to thank us, but if you think about it we did pretty well.

We trade Dale for Raphael which we sent to new York for 5th rounder to draft forsling. Then we traded him for a second rounder prospect and arguably our best defensive prospect.

Here is something interesting:

Trevor Linden was drafted in 1988, second overall. He played for the Canucks for 10 years when he was traded to the NYI for Todd Bertuzzi, Bryan McCabe and a 3rd round pick (Jarkko Ruutu). Todd Bertuzzi was then flipped for Roberto Luongo and Bryan McCabe helped us get both Sedins.

Vancouver traded Luongo for Jacob Markstrom and Shawn Matthias
And the Sedins are currently with the Canucks Organization

It is amazing to think how much a draft pick in 1988 (almost 30 years ago) has and still has a profound affect on the Canucks Organization.

Markstrom, Matthias, and Daniel Sedin are technically here because of Trevor Linden.

Could you imagine what we could have had if Gillis handled the Luongo situation better?

- Bakwas

If you think that's amazing you should follow the Cam Neely trade from Boston's perspective. It resulted in about 8 players that beat us for the cup

Not amazing stats from the prospects in Utica but not bad either. Real difference in the shooting percentage from the guys that have had a couple of years in the AHL to the rookies. Gaunce IMO has the best shot at probably a 3rd line LW in the NHL. Grenier with his size could be maybe the next Dale Weise who can play on any line and will do anything to prove people wrong about him haha

I would love to see some vets traded for these kids to get a chance.

Kane has scored 30 goals once and been no where near since. He's got attitude issues, the Jets are trying to trade him, yet Canucks would have to give up Horvat, McCann and a 1st to get him...

Makes zero sense, this better just be media morons coming up with poop. Any trade for Kane should centre around Kassian and if that isn't enough for the Jets, then go somewhere else.

Horvat and Virtanen should be untouchable unless it's for someone outstanding, and Kane is definitely not that player.

If thats original asking price. WPG can go fukk themselves. However if its the media making up bullshyt offer to rile people up then I say still explore it at the right price.

Call me stupid but the one thing I cant seem to find is whether he has a NTC. If he does. He can pull a Kes on the Jets and pretty much dictate where he gos. And from what I've read. Vancity is hungry for this kid.

Im not at all opposed to having him in our line-up. I think we have a solid group of leadership here from top to bottom that can lead this kid down the right path.

Only question is What will it Actually cost us.......?

We'll see but I'll be surprised if he's flossin a Jets logo after the TD

The only person who has mentioned this is Botch.... and for some stupid reason TSN is deciding to run with it. If that is in fact the cost then the Jets can keep him. No way he's worth that. Virtanen is pretty much the same player but will come a hell of a lot cheaper for the next 3-5 years. Kane is paid to much for what he actually produces at the moment

If true. Yup, Walk away. I find it hard to believe anyone would pay that type of price for that big of a potential problem. His price will lower, I garuntee it.

He can't have a NTC he's not old enough. Players can not negotiate a NTC until they are eligible to be an UFA, age 27 or 7 years in the league.

the Jets have zero leverage. Guy doesn't want to play for them ever again, he's coming off shoulder surgery, not the most mature guy, and his current production is well below what he should be doing for what he's paid.

I hope we don't trade our first round pick. I know a few question Paul Bittner but what I have seen I like.

6'4 he cani score , he can play tough and big. He was very noticeable at the prospects game amongst his fellow stars.

I believe, for instance, that Shae Webber has a NTC that kicks in part way through is mammoth contract. At the moment, Nashville could trade him anywhere, though they wouldn't as they have already paid him one billioooooooooon dollars.

wouldn't be surprised if it was ownership pushing it. Doesn't sound like a Benning move.

Question Leadership all you want but I garuntee you we have better leadership in this organization than WPG. Andrew Ladd? is that your leader? DB is that your leader, The guy that threw your clothes in the shower? They have talent, they dont have leadership.

Anyways Im as tired of this conversation as everyone else. Lets move on shall we.

If Benning watched the game against the Sharks( and he did) , he would be looking long and hard about acquiring Kane.

IMO ownership isn't going to push anything during this régime. Book it. Though I am sure he will be well informed in the loop.

If he wasn't I would be disappointed. He should be turning over every rock to make this team better, as long as he doesn't have to stray from "the plan", which to me means Horvat/Virtanen/2015 1st are off the table. Add McCann if you like, but everyone else is only potential.

Kassian has looked good the last couple of games. Seems a lot more focused on an all round game. I was at the Pitt game and he did a great job on the breakouts, which is an area he sometimes struggles.
