Wild lose Jason Zucker for 3 months. He's been great for them this season.

LeBrun on Flyers' expected trade deadline activity level

"quicker and more talented on the back end" -- tough to do, but it has to be the goal

Before someone jumps down my throat, I'm not starting an argument about any particular player. But just as Claude Giroux is more talented than, say, Derek Mathers, the Flyers defense would look a lot different if/when they can inject more talented players into it

True. Hopefully they can get 3 out of the defense prospects to become top 4 guys

I was reminiscing about Pronger earlier, and one reason I like MDZ as much as I do is you almost forget what above-average mobility and accurate passing looks like when you have less talented players on the back end

It's a skill, a gift, and it would really help if those young players can do that, and soon

as much as it sucks giving him credit, i think it only makes the numbers giroux has put up even more impressive. its largely with any offensive/transitional help from the back end

I remember when they acquired the rights to Mark Streit, and yes, the term and age were fair questions.

But I was all aboard, for one reason: That lockout season before he came, when they tried guys like Kurtis Foster and Bruno Gervais, et al...you have to be able to move the puck.

Streit's done well for us, which is awesome. But it's no real surprise to me that they are able to be competitive, even with the roster weaknesses they have, because even though they aren't great players, Schultz and MDZ know where to go with the puck, more often than not, along with Streit

If they get just two more guys back there who are even good, not great, they will look even better and more consistent

i agree with this. ill admit that when you guys signed him, i thought streit's deal was going to be a laugher like vinnys. but he really has earned every red cent of his deal.

and i agree with your last statement. the flyers still realistically seem to me one good defender and one more forward from making some real strides. i know, acquiring these guys without making another hole is easier said than done, but it isnt as if you guys are starting from nothing like a lot of teams.

yes, but not when they're in the midst of one of those 1-7 or 1-8-1 skids where they look like they've never been introduced to each other before....truly the most mystifying part

it makes 0 sense. i understand you cant win them all, but sometimes teams just seem to defy reason.
