Where are the odds better at finding superstars? Out of the top 20 scorers in the league, 13 were chosen in the top 11 and 11 of those were chosen in the top 5. - psuhockey

So you're saying 55% of the top 20 scorers were chosen in the top-5, so the Flyers have only a 45% chance of having a top-20 scorer if they choose 6-11? |

No. I am saying you are much more likely to find a superstar forward at the top of the draft than anywhere else. Its easy to say the flyers can just draft another Giroux in the 20's and another Datsyuk in the 6th round as if the likelihood of finding those players at that point in the draft is high. The flyers and red wings got lucky getting a player of that calibre at that point in the draft. |

The Habs blogger thinks Tokarski might get the start tonight in place of Price.
I read the interview with Raffl.
Seems he came back to practice a bit early on a day they had a bag skate (his description). He looked up and he was 30 meters behind everyone. That practice sent him further back in his recovery process.
In regards to Mason, "locking" in the knee is a typical description used for a torn meniscus. The torn cartilage can get stuck in the joint space and cause the knee to lock. This can be fixed with arthroscopy. He could be back in
this season if that's the issue. If it's his ACL forget about this year.
Guess we will see after the surgery. - Marc D
Could also be a "loose body" causing the sticking, which is also reparable with arthroscopy and even quicker recovery time.

Did White play LW and Umberger play RW last game? Or was it the other way around?
That was actually the 4th line in terms of ES ice time, which is OK by me. |

You'd think they'd show a torn meniscus. But there's a lot going on in a knee. |

Actually, the Flyers have had very good success at drafting forwards late in the first round with both Mike Richards (2003, 24th) and Claude Giroux (2006, 22nd) being superstars (at their time with the Flyers).
Yeah, the odds are better if you have a top-5 pick, but that doesn't mean that good players and/or superstars aren't available throughout the first round and beyond. The Flyers recent track record over the past 4 years of drafting in the first 2 rounds is looking very good. I'm confident that they'll get a good player with their pick this year.
Also, keep in mind that no player, not even McDavid, is guaranteed to be an NHL superstar. Just because you're hyped up and go first overall does not guarantee success. |
