Jets made a great deal IMO. Wow.
I thought Kane was going to have diminished trade value. - Nucker101
100% agree. Great deal for the Jets.
Bogo is very overrated in my opinion and Kane will probably leave after 3 years. |

My friend was riding the bike with Bogo's wife when the trade came through and she told her that her husband was traded. She said she was happy because they were getting tired of the media in Winnipeg. - manvanfan
I think he's from that area anyways |

I honestly think both teams lose this trade. The d swap is a slight upgrade for Winnipeg and they get a late first with a C level prospect. Stanford won't provide much.
With that said, Buffalo loses more. Kane wanted out of Winnipeg because it was a small town with a lousy climate. Have you guys been to Buffalo? I went to a Sabres game last year it is truly one of the worst places Ive ever visited. Kane will continue to do his thing until they are forced to move him.
Buffalo is a very poorly run organization and this will blow up in their face like most of their past transactions. - CanuckDon
I have been to Buffalo. It looked a lot like Harlem. it is a very Black city. The opposite of boston |

There's no way we could have put together a package like that without ruining our chances of future success. BUF still has: 2 firsts this year including the McDavid/Eichel pick, Zadorov, Ristolainen, Reinhart, Grigorenko, Girgensons... A similar package from us would have been something like Tanev+Hansen+1st+Jensen+McCann for Kane+Bogo - bezz44
Yeah there is no way any of us as well as Benning/Linden do that. |

I actually think the deal was fairly good for both teams, with BUF paying a bit more than I thought they would if Myers was part of the package.
If you think about it, Myers has been struggling for some time and the rumors surrounding his exit go back almost as far as Kane's. BUF gave up none of their top prospects (which you list above) and also manage to offload Stafford who has struggled with inconsistency forever. - AlexF
Yea I'm of the same opinion. It looks lopsided for the Jets but I really don't think Buffalo loses sleep over this. I would rather have Bogosian helping along the young D core they are building than Myers, and Lemieux, the 1st, and Armia are all replaceable pieces. If you view it as Kane for Myers and then Bogosian for 1st, Lemieux, Armia it doesn't look so lopsided. Then you say the Jets needed Stafford thrown in. If you are the Sabres do you really think twice about adding Stafford if that is the sticking point? Maybe he nets you a 2nd rounder from a contender, but BUF has more than enough picks/prospects in the bank |

It bodes well that WPG now has more prospects and an extra 1st to trade (and that some of Stafford's cap hit is retained), I think they will be looking to beef up at the TDL |

Honestly. I dont know what to say about that Kane deal...... If I knew we could have got Bogosian in a package deal with Kane. My sentiment on these boards lately would have been a little different. - vancity787
What if it means sending Tanev or Edler the other way plus 2 or 3 more picks/prospects? |

Fair enough, but Myers isn't a problem child like Kane and Bogo hasn't played a full season in years. I just feel like the Jets worked over Buffalo in their negotiations. I doubt the Jets got similar offers from other teams, but we can only speculate as usual. |

I am hoping we get our asses kicked these next few games.
I would hate to see us close and trying to buy. A few of our old players are having rebound years, now is the time to sell them for picks.
We will need 3 years to turn this team around, I hope Benning jumps on that this year, and does not wait until 3 more years to start the rebuild. This team is going nowhere and this is suppose to be a strong draft |

Armia and Lemieux are pretty damn good prospects, in Buffalo it's not a huge deal to lose them, but if we had both in Vancouver we'd be pencilling them both in for future lineups and talking about them weekly. |

Pretty sure this trade works best for Winnipeg because they need to make the playoffs and they get more assests for the future. Kane being out injured allows Buffalo to stake their claim on Mcdavid. |

Armia is 21 playing on a mediocre/bad AHL team and has 25 points in 33 games. He's a 6'3" winger.
For comparisons:
Jensen is 21 as well and has 18 points in 33 games.
Shinkaruk is 20 and has 15 points in 45 games.
Brendan Lemieux is already 210 pounds as an 18 year old at 6'1". He has 50 points in 46 games on a bad OHL team, including 35 goals. Plus 120 PIM.

Kane with Mcdavid, or Reinhart, or girgrenko or girgensons. |
