I think they both won . WPG more so because the we're dealing from a position of despration - VANTEL
This is a good point, but they certainly were aided by the fact that Kane had no leverage. (frank) you Kesler |

No doubt. And yeah, Kesler really (frank)ed us big time. I'm cool with players using their NTC sine they sacrifice a lot of money for them, but to both demand a trade and then narrow your list down to just 1 or 2 places is a female dog move.
Martin St.Louis did the same with Tampa but had a better reason for it(Grandma had health problems and passed away after). |

I thought it was funny myself. Political correctness is taken way to seriously nowadays. I am sure it is only to appease the masses. Hank and probably thought it was funny too. - thundachunk
I couldn't care less about it. Not the first time the twins got bashed. I just thought two kids having fun being classless. Don't know how many times I have done that , but I would need all my fingers and all my toes to count it. |

Tanevs played about 20-25 games more than Bogosian over the past 3 years though and he is a flat out better defensive d-man. Fair point about the Sabres, I just feel like they could have paid less had they waited the Jets out, I just don't think there were many other teams willing or able to pay that price. - Nucker101
I would also rather have Tanev out of any of the 3
Well I imagine the deal they had was a Kane-Myers base but both teams wanted a piece coming back to replace the one they lost and it spiralled from there. Maybe the Jets offered one of their weaker D and then BUF decided they absolutely needed a top 4 coming back. Who knows |

Considering what Buffalo paid, I'm gonna guess that the Jets started off by asking for a big overpayement and then "settled" for that deal. But what you said is certainly plausible too. |

Yea especially since the reason Kes wanted out is that we were not contenders anymore. Not like he was mistreated. Turned around and (frank)ed his teammates and management over |

Well there price was roster player, 1st, prospect so I'm guessing they asked for something outlandish like Myers, 1st, Reinhart
That is a Scooby proposal if ever I've seen one |

I think the Jets must have had a significant offer from the Canucks for Kane since it was reported that they called them this morning to tell them they were in on a bigger deal. IMO Buffalo had to make the deal so appealing that the Jets were willing to move Bogosian as well. And I would say Myers is a problem child in that he hasn't lived up to expectations after his rookie season. Still a question mark - bezz44
Wait until the Provies tonight. I'm sure Botchford will "outline" what he thinks the Canucks offered up. |

The biggest thing I see, is how Sabres have operated over the last three years. They traded Miller Pomminville Myers Vanek and look at what they got back.
Look where they will be in 2-3 years. Buffalo should be very excited.
Vancouver has moved out LU Schneider and Kesler and our return has been nowhere near that.
Horvat MCCann are solid returns but that is it.
When you do a halfassed rebuild with NTCs this is what you get.
A rebuild should take about 5 years. Canucks may take 8 or 9 seeing they can't even make up their mind that they need one desperately. - VANTEL
I don't think that it has anything to do with making up their minds. Their hands are tied. Buffalo got good value for their veterans, but when all of your veterans have NTCs, you won't get anywhere near that value. I just don't see the value in moving pieces just to clear up roster spots. IMO, Benning is taking the only approach he can.
And we'll see how Buffalo looks in a couple of years. They've mastered the tank, but that doesn't guarantee anything but high draft picks.

Bennington two big signings were given NTCs . I wish the NHL would outlaw NTCs/NMC |

Not a fan, particularly since neither if them signed below market value. At least the term isn't crazy on either. |

They lost Myers so I don't get how Bogosian is a big upgrade for them on defense, I'll give you slight upgrade at best if you really prefer Bogo.
Kane is definitely a hell of a player. But they gave up 15-20 goal guy in Stafford and 2 good prospects along with a late 1st in the upcoming draft for Kane who has some off-ice issues. - Nucker101
Kane is a 15 to 20 goal guy. To me Winnipeg cloberred the sabres here |

But Pits and Chi mastered the tank and win. Both teams got a cup not long after getting crosby/malkin and toews/kane |

In my opinion the best move Benning has made is not meeting the Jets price. And I like a lot of Bennings trades. |

How long were they bad for? Long enough for Pits to almost lose their franchise. They got lucky, IMO. Players like Crosby, Malkin or Toews aren't available every draft. |
