Nope, just look at the teams who have had so many good young players step up for their NHL teams over the past 2-3 years. Now go look at what those young players did in the AHL before they were called up. The Canuck just flat out haven't had much young NHL-ready talent.

Nope, just look at the teams who have had so many good young players step up for their NHL teams over the past 2-3 years. Now go look at what those young players did in the AHL before they were called up. The Canuck just flat out haven't had much young NHL-ready talent.

There isn't a lot of players that go to the AHL and even make it to the NHL. Most players now a days may spend one year there and then they make the club. Detroit is probably the only team that keeps their prospects down there and lets them develop.

People kept blaming the coaches for not playing the youth, but are youth during the past few years wasn't very good....

The problem has really been a combination of things 1) they never had full control of an AHL franchise like they do now 2) they never drafted well up until 2013 when they removed Delorme as their head scout and changed the way they approach the draft 3) over the past ten years they've been one of the most successful franchises in terms of winning

Looking over old nhl drafts from about 2008-2011. I really don't see how some of these players fall so far or how its not clear that they will be a decent pick. Just by looking at their stats of their draft years.
