The problem has really been a combination of things 1) they never had full control of an AHL franchise like they do now 2) they never drafted well up until 2013 when they removed Delorme as their head scout and changed the way they approach the draft 3) over the past ten years they've been one of the most successful franchises in terms of winning - LeftCoaster
I heard Delorme is still a scout with the team. Who took over for him? I thought it was just when JB showed up that DeLorme got sidelined

Delorme is still scouting for the Canucks, he's even listed as "Chief Scout", but my understanding is his focus is primarily on the WHL. |

There's 19 scouts on staff, I highly doubt he makes selections on his own. Benning will have the final say. So yes I'm perfectly comfortable with picking from the Western League. |

I don't think I've ever had a nice lager before. Only time I ever drink it is if I want to get drunk for cheap AKA mass produced crap - bezz44
There's your problem right there. Most of those beers aren't really "Lagers" in the truest sense. Lager takes longer to ferment, because it does so at lower temperatures than ale, and with a specialized yeast. Macro breweries use all kinds of adjuncts like corn, rice, millet etc to get starch instead of malted barley. They use commercial (low quality) hops and GMO yeasts that can do a quicker ferment so they can get their beer out faster. Try Howe Sound Lager, Or Red Racer or Coal Harbour from the Mainland. Also look for craft brewers that call their beer Pilsner, which is a specific style of lager. |

What do you prefer?
I am more partial towards the OHL and WHL than I am to QMJHL.
QMJHL is only about offense.

I wasn't being serious.
Frankly, I'd love it if the Canucks just spent all of their picks on good offensive players in the CHL. |

Same here, although I firmly believe that the NCAA is going to start becoming more and more deeper since hockey is growing in the States and they have a much larger population so it's only a matter of time that they catch up to Canada.
I believe that Jon Weisbrod, Benning's boy he hired as a scout is mainly scouting in the US. |

One of the few from Parallel I haven't tried
Driftwood did a seasonal this summer, but I missed out on it. Next year!
I'm more on an IPA kick lately. Late to the party, but I'm just loving the intense aromatics and biter bitterness.
Hoyne just released a double IPA, 7.6% abv. and super hoppy. |

I suppose in that sense then I have because I've had some decent pilsners. Always been more of an ale guy myself but it would be nice to find a beer that is lighter that I can enjoy that isn't something like a blonde ale which is usually pretty rich |

Late rounds picks are a crap shoot. Canucks have done well bringing in college players (Burrows and Tanev).
Corrado is on his way to being a regular in the near future. |

We have been trying to pawn our back ups on them for years now. If they didn't bite on Schnieder, I doubt they will go for Lack. Watch them try to band aid the situation with Reimer. |

That organization has had all kinds of sh!tty experiences with their goalies. A low $ goalie (Leighton) gets them to the SCF, they try to keep the model going and fail miserably, they fork out beaucoup bucks for Bryz, he becomes far better known for his views on the cosmos than stopping pucks, they buy him out, then they gamble on another low $ duo which hasn't been working.
P.S. Their defense is no less culpable. |

Burrows doesn't know what college is and probably didn't get past grade 10. I think you mean Bieksa. |

They also traded a young goalie who went on to win the Vezina. |
