They also traded a young goalie who went on to win the Vezina. - CubanBuffet
Completely forgot about that one. |

No way in hell would I trade Horvat, McCann, and a 1st round pick for Evander Kane; maybe for Patrick Kane. Not even substituting Kassian for Horvat.
Horvat is playing well and McCann was a steal in the draft at 24th overall. He is playing well in the OHL on a mediocre team. He's a consistent centre who is destined for a future top 6 role. The Canucks can't trade a 1st round pick away, as they still need to stock the cupboard, especially with quality d-men.
Kane is rumoured to have a bad attitude and his teammates don't like him. Why bring his poison into the Canucks' locker room? He isn't God's gift to hockey. Kane has averaged 38.8 points per season over his 5 seasons in the NHL. Even if he wasn't injured (and going to miss 4-6 months), he is only sitting at 22 points; which means he would miss his average number of points for this season. I'd rather the Canucks go after Wheeler. If the Canucks must get Kane, I don't think he's currently worth more than Kassian & a second round pick. |

I'd say, and I hope that, Virtanen and Shinkaruk are off the table, I'd do Kassian, McCann, Jensen and a 3rd/ 2nd pick - GloveHandStrong
The idea of Kassian + Jensen + 3rd for Kane is a much better deal. I still don't want Kane in the organization. He'll demand to be in the top 6. Who gets punted out? Burrows? |

I wasn't being serious.
Frankly, I'd love it if the Canucks just spent all of their picks on good offensive players in the CHL. - Nucker101
Lol and I'd be happy if we spent all the picks on Defensemen. Just seems as if there is a huge crop of good D in this draft. We could use a few. Split it half and half |

That unfortunately wouldn't get you Kane. He's a bum, canucks shouldn't want him. We have virtanen next year. |

Kane is a luxury that the Canucks simply can't afford right now (at least if the rumoured asking price is true). We simply don't have the organizational depth to be able to trade the young assets required at the moment.
Maybe he'll sign with us via free agency in a few years, but right now, it's a pipe dream. |

I heard Delorme is still a scout with the team. Who took over for him? I thought it was just when JB showed up that DeLorme got sidelined

Eric Crawford(marcs brother) is chief scout now |

There's 19 scouts on staff, I highly doubt he makes selections on his own. Benning will have the final say. So yes I'm perfectly comfortable with picking from the Western League. - LeftCoaster
I say he draft out of the OHL. Look at our prospects. Now look where they play(ed) Jr. |

Umm, McCanns Jr team is probably the best team in the OHL. |

You guys shouldn't draft from the OHL, you realize those kids are from the GTA.
They're probably Leafs fans as well. |

I believe Cole Cassels and the Oshawa Generals are ahead on points but they are both first in their division. Either way , it's glorious to have players on both teams. Usually CHL teams are 1 or 2 line teams and the teams with the best players on those two lines are tops. |

They will both be great centres for us. Now if only we had more quality wingers like JK and HS

I would really like to know how the College prospects are doing and if any of them are going to be any good to even play in the AHL. |

Twitter is a buzz that BUF and WPG are working hard on a Kane deal. If BUF lands him, they will probably regret it in the long run. Can see Kane being happy to stay there very long. |

Better Buffalo than Winnipeg. Some people are never happy anywhere they go but it is definitely a way nicer city. |

Its a time can tell kind of thing. Wpg Has to make the playoffs. Kane gone for months. Stafford and Armia give them replacements and some depth and Lemeuix and the 2nd kind of cancel out the first. Myers is better then bogo. |

Please God, no. I want no part of him on this team or parting with the assets required to land him.
Dude acts like a total DB no matter what town he is in, not just WPG. |

I would rather go after Ebrele if he is truly available. Speed and scoring. I don't care that he is shorter. He is a true sniper. |

I got tickets from Jim Slater of the jets for when Vancouver was in Winnipeg. My friend and I were calling Kane a bum all game every time he touched the puck. Mid-way through the second period Slater's wife says to us that Kane's gf is sitting right in front of us. Kane's gf turns around and we apologized and she said it's not a problem he was playing like a bum. |

Kane needs 2-3 more years of growing up. Canucks can be patient and sign him then, no need to give up assets now, this team won't be doing anything for 3-5 years anyway. |
