Maybe he will, but the funny thing about bad teams is that things have a way of not being what everyone thinks they will
Guess we'll find out - AllInForFlyers
The current GM too over a sinking ship last year and is working to fix it. This isn't Mike Milbury, who dug the hole and is trying to get out of it. |

in other news, anyone upset the Flyers weren't willing to include Simmonds in a deal for the pick to get Ekblad at the draft? granted I don't know what else was involved in the potential trade. man Ekblad is good - nastyflyergirl
That's a tough one -- Simmonds nearly bagged 30 last year
I wouldn't have done it |

Yep, Buffalo traded some big assets, but they have a ton of assets. Myers may rebound, but Kane has a huge upside. If he's happy and motivated, he could blossom. Bogosian is hardly a big step down from Myers in terms of potential, too. - Jsaquella
And I know Bogosian will be labled as this injury prone player but don't you think people can start saying that about Mason. I mean I worry a little now because it has been 3 seperate occasions he has been hurt now. Yes everything could be fineor maybe this is the start of something. |

Buffalo probably doesn't care if Bogosian plays a shift for the rest of this year.
They didn't make this trade for this year. |

No, cause they wanted our 2014 1st and our 2015 1st as well.
Sanheim + Simmonds + 2015 1st > Ekblad, even though he's great. |

How do you think Columbus feels with all Bob's injuries and his massive new contract? |

Everybody can be injury prone, though -- it's a physical sport
Hell, Evander Kane isn't exactly Rod Brind'Amour out there and some of us already have projected Rick Nash prodcution for a decade |

I know this isn't the place, but just from a southern neighbour point of view.
People cant be happy about the president's request for war from congress can they? I know this BS fear mongering propaganda is at an all time high but people cant think this is a good idea can they?
Just curious on thoughts. |

Hell no. Ekblad is good, but he would have been maybe 4-5 (behind Seth Jones) the year before. He was the best player, but his draft year had a relatively weak top-5. Just because he's a #1 overall pick doesn't mean he's better than higher picks in deeper years. |

I agree that the Habs got better as the game went along, and took over the game, which I even stated in a previous reply. If you'd like, I'll provide the link to the statement. - MJL
Im just saying that you seem to have this mantra. Yes, the Flyers did beat the Caps. They played probably their best team game of the year as well, while being forced to overcome some adversity.
Anytime someone mentions the Flyers are not a very good team, you say they are capable of better play, and point to certain games. The Flyers are currently 9 points out of a playoff spot. Thats despite the fact that they have gotten 14 out of a possible 20 points in their last 10 games (points in 8 of 10: 6-2-2).
We just differ in positions on this. I think the Flyers are where they are in the standings because they are not a very good team. Sometimes bad teams play at a higher level at different junctions of the season. They go hot. They have good games mixed with bad games. Conversely the opposite happens to good teams. They will have down spurts.
At the end of the day, the seasonal Flyers are not a very good team in my opinion. Agree or disagree.. It doesnt really matter to me. |

Hello fellow buzzers-- here's my random post/ question for the day--
Does anyone think voracek might be playing through and hiding some kind of injury? He doesn't look like he's skating as tenaciously or as hard as he was when he was racking up points left and right earlier in the season. He doesn't seem to have that same "vigor" in his movements, not backchecking as hard as he was earlier in the season. Just looks like he's skating a little softer than normal. Both him and Giroux are in a slump, but Giroux looks the same as far as his skating/ play go. Any thoughts? |

Ekblad has played like a legit top 4 dman. He could be the best defenseman in the world in 3-4 years if he continues on his current trajectory.
The reports were Vinny, Brayden Schenn and/or Simmonds for the 1st pick. Maybe the Flyers 1st too. Luke Schenn and Read were talking about too. May be a really cheap price if Ekblad pans out. Flyers may have drafted Reinhart though. |

He is a top pairing d-man, and one of the best in the league this season. I couldnt care less where he was picked, or the strength of his class. The kid is a friggin beast. |

Identical EV goals per 60 rate as Pat Kane since '11....this is a very young, PPG player were talking about here....easily |

But my point is that I wouldn't have done the deal because of the awe given to the hallowed "first overall pick." Had he been taken with the 4th/5th overall pick in a deeper draft, you probably could have gotten him for quite less of a package.
Yes, I'd like to have him, but not at the price required to get the top pick last year. |

I disagree. I think we tend to pick a bit more when guys are not scoring. If anything, he is trying a bit too much. He was at his best when he did his thing. Now he seems to be forcing things a bit. He looked good last night I thought. Just needs to stay at it.
Honestly, I think they need to get Schenn off that line ASAP. He seems to be a terrible fit there. No structure. |

Which is my point -- labels get attached to some guys and not others, potential get drooled over for some guys and not others
Been watching this league long enough to know that most big trades wind up being net neutral, but because people obsess over intangibles that can't be quantified, they feel like one team got the better of the other |

ahh, I see what you are saying.
Ultimately, and in hindsight, for a player of his caliber and what he is doing this year, the cost is probably even higher now. |

I like in the short term for Winnipeg.
This trade further proves that Buffalo is in full tank mode.

It could be. But, if the cost was Sanheim, Simmonds, and this year's first (potential 1st overall), would you do it? |
