I find it absolutely hilarious that all 3 stars were Habs and zero mention of Ray who was the 1st star of the game IMO. I said it yesterday, I think that every home game that the Flyers play, the 3 stars should be all Flyers.. it's absolutely ridiculous and subjective, so why not just do what other teams do. I don't care if we lose 8-0 and are outshot 50 to 5.. - Hextall271
Last year, when the Flyers got bombarded by the Caps and Emery jumped Holtby, Emery was named third star...it's not worth worrying about. |

That would be fine with me, as long as we have more picks going into the draft than we currently do - 3flyerkids
I think we will, but it might be from trading guys like Schultz and MDZ, rather than trading Grossmann, Coburn or others. |

It will be interesting. I think we keep at least one of MDZ or Schultz. Coburn would be good addition for Ducks or Wings. If Hexy is offered a first..I think he takes it.
Grossman also has another year and I think that helps when making TDL deals.. You aren't just dealing rentals |

Normally I'd agree. But when looking towards next season, the Canadian dollar is affecting the cap. Bettman has mentioned recently that the cap could flux based on the value of it. That limits a team's ability to take on future money.
If I'm a team sitting there and I'm near the cap, and I'm not sure if the cap is going to be $72mm or $71mm, I'm more hesitant about adding a future salary, especially for a guy like Grossmann, when similar guys are available on expiring deals-and who can possibly be re-signed next year for less cash.

Seems like there are multiple versions of these useless 3 stars selections.
On the French channel here in Quebec, they had the 3 stars as 1) Desharnais 2) Emery 3) Plekanec
Seems fair to me as the Flyers played a very good defensive game ... no shame in losing that one. They outplayed us in the 1st period and we then took over in the next 2. |

With Simmonds playing with Couturier I would really like to see the Umberger-Laughton-White line start to be used more as the defensive line. I think getting Couturier more offensive will help. Also If Raffl is to go back on the top line I wouldn't mind using Brayden Schenn as a trade chip to get a natural wing or possibly Kane. I would love to try and get Kane and the rights to Burmistrov or Bogosian somehow. |

Don't forget when Tootoo played like 2 mins vs Pittsburgh but was given the 3rd star for his pummeling of Bertuzzo.
3 Stars are nothing, I wouldn't worry about it at all.
DD did nothing most of the game but scored the OT winner so was given the first makes no sense. IMO Emery was the #1 star of the night and I really liked what the Eller-Sekac-Prust line did all night |

Why? Don't you think Hextall will move anybody that would bring back " value" - 3flyerkids
Of course he can. Holmgren left him with a stacked roster, and zero albatross contracts. It's going to be a total bonanza at the trade deadline for Hextall. Assets coming back in droves. |

I've got to agree about B.Schenn. He's shown some good things this year, but he still is largely inconsistent. He had a good 2 or 3 shifts last night, but as the game progressed, he began to dissappear.
I still think he has the upside of a quality 2nd liner LW or C, but he might be the odd center out of this group. He has progressed this year in my eyes, but not as much as I would have liked playing with G an Jake. With him he still is pretty young and has raw talent, I just don't know if he puts it together.

I respectfully disagree with people that want to see Couturier put in a more offensive role. What has he shown anyone outside of the Flyers own zone. The kid has a great mind but not the hands to match. If he isn't fumbling passes in the neutral zone, then he is messing up prime scoring chances. I am certain he will be a solid third line center for a long time. But using him for offense? Might as well use Nick Grossmann. |

Lecavalier is going to get shredded, but I think MDZ had a rough OT. Maybe Vinny could have gotten off quicker, but MDZ should have recognized he was headed off, and he played the GWG poorly, at best. - Jsaquella
You're damn right he's gonna get shredded. Our high-paid sniper missed a point-blank chance in OT, couldn't handle the puck (and skated like Gino Odjick) moments later on a 2-on-1. Then, he takes a listless stroll to the bench and has the puck kick off his skate to initiate the ensuing line rush for Montreal.
MDZ may have played the sequence with a poor read, but he was forced into a quick decision based on Vinny's ineffectiveness. I'm sorry to say it, but, with the exception of Coliacovo, Lecavalier is probably the worst Flyers right now.
On the flip side, that was a great game by Umberger. He was up on his skates and actually drove the play a couple of times. Maybe he still has visions on 2008 against Montreal. |

Claude Giroux has 6 points (2 G, 4 A) in his last 11 games and Jake Voracek has 7 points (1 G, 6 A) in that same span. I'm surprised the Flyers have been relatively successful over those 11 games (6-3-2) with these two guys being cold. Games like last night will happen though if you're two best players aren't scoring. |

I just don't get Braydon Schenn. He seems like he doesn't know if he wants to be a finesse player, a crash-and-bang type, or what. And for whatever reason, he has zero chemistry with Giroux and Jake. Can we put anyone, even the much-maligned Umberger, on that line? Right now, that line is cold as can be, and the only thing that's changed has been Schenn's introduction. It isn't working, end the experiment. |

I guess we will see what Hextall's plan is moving forward. IMO Coburn could fetch a first especially because he has a year left. Grossman could get a 3rd...who knows what else is on the table. His priority should be to gain draft picks. I am sure he realizes this team is not going to playoffs - 3flyerkids
I don't think it has anything to do with what Hextall's plans are. Other teams also have a plan. Playoff teams are going to be reluctant to take on players with term left at the deadline. Players on expiring contracts are more desirable as playoff rentals. Some of the assets the Flyers have to trade, might be easier to trade around the draft or during the Summer. It really doesn't have anything to do with Hextall realizing this team is not going to make the playoffs. I do however think there is a potential for player for player trades involving the Flyers. |

Did you know there were no recorded 3 stars for Game 6 of the 2010 SCF? Man, Patrick Kane must have felt cheated there. |

If hextall decides he wants to move a few defenseman I have no doubt that he can. Some have value to other teams. They are just playing a more prominent role here that they shouldn't be.
The key will be does hextall want to move any of these guys? Does he think this group can mainly get it done and are just having a bad year? maybe he likes this group overall and wants to add to it, while maybe removing 1 or 2 guys tops. Time will tell. |

Couturier has scored at 2nd line center levels at ES in past seasons. While playing in a lot of defensive situations. This year he has been playing with Read and Umberger, who have not had good offensive seasons overall. It's true that he has been snakebitten lately on some solid chances, but the ability is there. |

Lecavalier has zero to do with the decision Del Zotto made. Del Zotto had time to make a play, and he passed the puck to a player that had his back to the play, that was clearly going off for a line change. Not sure how it was a listless stroll. I also disagree that Lecavalier has not been playing well. That line has been one of the better lines for a while now. Lecavalier's play has made me think that they should move him up to a higher line. |

I was more thinking maybe he might actually have value to a playoff team. Maybe Vinny to Nashville for Stalberg. Something like that. |
