I believe he has never made a trade before this despite 2-3 years on the job. |

A couple of things:
First, are the Rangers playing great right now? Not really, but the good thing is that they have managed to avoid any prolonged losing streaks, even when they haven't been playing good hockey. Since Hank has been out, they are 2-1-1, which obviously isn't setting the league on fire, but not bad either.
Second, Cam is a backup for a reason. He is a good backup, but he isn't Hank, and he is going to have games like last night. He was terrible last night, plain and simple, and he is going to have to be better than that for the Rangers to hold level until Hank gets back (hopefully). Indeed, if he hadn't played so poorly last night, I think we would have a much different view of that game. I think the Rangers actually played fairly well. - Pete V
A win is a win. At this point in the season, and with the circumstances they are saddled with, take the points anyway they can get them.
They were clearly the better team for the first two periods. But Talbot was atrocious last night, as well as half of their defensive core, and they had to sweat it out.
Good games from the Brassard line, the third line and even the fourth line was alright. The Stepan line was horrendous, as was McDonagh, Girardi and John Moore.

I personally don't think there is much of a difference between Bogosian and Myers.
So, they gave up Armia, Lemieux, a first round pick and Drew Stafford (who probably could have gotten you a 2nd round pick in another trade) for Evander Kane? Man, oh mighty. |

If Kane can get his head in order, and you can team him with McDavid. It gets a lot better for them. |

You might be.
Which first did the Sabres give Winnipeg? I know they had three before this deal; likely the lowest of the three but Winnipeg really gave up little to get potentially a lot. |

You and Ranger Danger. I would fire my GM immediately for making that trade. That's how bad I think it is, and I don't think I'm one who is prone to hyperbole. |

That's cause Kane is RangerDanger's love child. If the Rangers traded Kreider I would feel the team who got him would win 100 times out of 100 no matter what the Rangers got |

Agreed, the defensemen involved in this deal cancel each other out.
This deal looks so lopsided right now but it serves Buffalo well in the sense they are trying to tank and land Eichel or McDavid. They are almost guaranteed to finish with the worst record in the east now.
But if Kane never gets his head out of his @ss then this trade is one of the most one sided in the modern era; even if Armia and Lemiex only turn into depth NHLers. |

This also makes the Sabres worse this year. Higher chance of picking mcdavid. |

Hard to defend this deal from the Sabres standpoint. They didn't need to make this move to likely draft in the top two or three this June. They gave away two solid prospects, one potential solid prospect and Stafford for a headcase with one good season under his belt. |

They could have accomplished the same thing by selling off players for picks, without getting absolutely fleeced in the process.

I have a feeling that Buffalo will not be keeping Mr. Kane around for too long. They can still turn him into a boat load of assets. If the deal turns into Tyler Myers, Stafford, Armia, and Lemieux, plus a First for Bogo, "2 roster players", and a pick I see this as a great trade for Buffalo. Gives them a nice dman in Bogo, depending on who they get as roster players the work ethic or vet presence they need, plus a pick. Now, is this going to happen, who knows, but we have to remember that Buffalo is in the process of a MAJOR rebuild. I don't think the front office would consider this trade if they didn't have something up their sleeve... |

I just think really strong power forwards like Kane are extremely rare commodities. I remember when we used to talk about how to get one of those and it came down to trying to acquire one of 4 people of that mold. For Buffalo you take the risk. If he gets his head straight and plays to his talent level Buffalo acquired a player that aren't exactly available often.
And apparently from an advance stat standpoint, Evander Kane is on par with Patrick Kane for 5v5 scoring since 2011.... He just isn't always healthy. If this is Seguin 2.0 in terms of a wake up call then Buff wins this one man. |

kane is also only 23 and could be part of the rebuild. Bogo is only 24

The only team currently on par with their sh!tty record is Edmonton. No other team is within ten points of them. They didn't need to do this to assure themselves of McDavid or Eichel. |

It's too early to say who won or lost this deal. I agree that it's an overpayment by buffalo, but of Kane figures it out and Bogo who was once a highly touted player reaches his potential, the Sabres will have done alright.
I don't think the market for Myers was as good as buffalo fans led everyone to believe. |
