I just think really strong power forwards like Kane are extremely rare commodities. I remember when we used to talk about how to get one of those and it came down to trying to acquire one of 4 people of that mold. For Buffalo you take the risk. If he gets his head straight and plays to his talent level Buffalo acquired a player that aren't exactly available often.
And apparently from an advance stat standpoint, Evander Kane is on par with Patrick Kane for 5v5 scoring since 2011.... He just isn't always healthy. If this is Seguin 2.0 in terms of a wake up call then Buff wins this one man. - mrhattrick27
Since he scored 30, if you take the games he's played and his point production, and average it out over an 82 game schedule, he is a 51 point/25 goal player the last three seasons. This year, he was playing on Winnipeg's third line. He is malcontent. His own teammates can't stand him. And, he makes $5.25 million a year, which is a lot for a 51 point player.
HE IS NOT TYLER SEGUIN. His talent level is not even close to Seguins, IMO, so for that reason, couple with the fact that while Seguin liked to party, he was never really locker room poison, I hate the comparison.
Time will tell, however. I just believe that while I am cool with giving people second chances, when you continue over and over and over again to act like a jack ass, and your own teammates believe that you are acting like a jack ass, that is a major warning sign.
I can't believe that Winnipeg got in this deal. Really can't. |

I don't think anyone is doubting his ability and potential. Just that he seems like a (frank)ing punk who doesn't give a poop about anyone else but himself. - mdw7413
Just so its clear, I am not doubting that he is a very talented guy, but I am very much doubting that he is even close to Tyler Seguin.

Tyler Seguin....bars in boston literally had a party for when he left cause he was an ass hat around town. I'm not saying Kane will lead the league in goals but he sure as hell was better in Atlanta.. |

He's no Seguin but he could be a mix between Kreider and Iginla. |

Just so it's clear, I am only speaking to the attitude change of the player with a trade, not the ability. |

Here is what I will say, I think Ted Nolan will be a very good coach for him. Either he'll get his act together under Nolan, or Nolan will finish him. |

As far as attitudes perhaps your right. That their bad attitudes were different. Again, never was comparing talent. Just how a trade can change someones attitude is all. Was speaking very general in that regard. |

Yeah, he might change, but what happens if he doesn't? Sabres just screwed themselves big time if he doesn't change. Way to high risk for me if I was a GM.

If Ted Nolan is around to actually coach him... for the Sabres sake I hope he does just for this reason. I think he coudl also bring out more in Bogosian too.
Only thing with your opinion I am shocked by is saying Bogo and Myers are equal. I thought you were a big Bogo proponent and would have thought more of Buff getting him. |

Are they screwed though? They still have their top prospects and 2 first rounders. If these players fail I don't think it sets them back as badly as people make it seem.
My biggest concern is what Pete said. If Kane is such a cancer that he actually harms the young players development... then it is bad. But I don't see that happening. He could be a guy that holds them back from winning immediately, sure, I don't think he would go as far as to ruin a players career development. Just an opinion. |

I agree with you if Nolan reigns him in, it could be a really good trade. I guess i'm just saying is if I was the Buffalo GM I wouldn't have the balls to do that trade. haha |

Would you concede that Buffalo has a higher ceiling in this deal? Where you do not think it is worth the gamble but if it pays off it pays off huge? |

What I was basically saying to Pete is, if the gamble pays off I think it pays off huge for Buffalo. Where most people it seems just think the odds are so stacked against that from happening that they wouldn't do it. Balls to the wall I guess haha |

This isn't a Seguin type deal. Seguin didn't fit the Bruins system and the depth chart, at center, is pretty good in Boston. Bergeron and Krecji are their top two centers and have proven that they are worthy of such distinction. Seguin partied a little too hard, in the offseason, and there were questions of his maturity. In this case, Kane and Seguin are similar, but that's where the comparisons end. Seguin was almost the first round draft pick, over Hall, in 2010. Kane, while highly regarded, is not on the same level as Seguin.
It could work in Buffalo but only time will tell for Kane. |

Actually, no. I think at this point you know what Kane is (or at least close to it). He has had 4 years in the league, and his average point/goal production says he is what it is. Can he improve on that? Of course. Can he be a PPG player? I don't think so.
Armia, Lemieux and a 1st. What if all three of those players turn out to be top 6 players (and at cheaper rates), then who has the higher ceiling in the deal?

Until Kane grows up which may be never his game will not improve, he's talented but a detriment to his own self |
